“No excuse not to go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Being in the heart of Mexico City -- adjacent to the Zócalo and a metro station -- the Templo Mayor is exceptionally convenient to visit. The admission is only a few dollars and tours are self-guided. Signs are in English and Spanish. You can look at the ruins at your own pace, and you are just a few feet away so photos will turn out very well.

During my visit I enjoyed letting my imagination show me what Tenochtitlan might've looked like before Conquest, when causeways were everywhere and the temples teemed with people.

“A pile of rocks with a few interesting fragments”

Disappointing, particularly when compared with the quantity and quality displayed at the Anthropological Museum

“Not well maintained and guides are needed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We weren't thrilled with this - the ruins have the potential to be fascinating, but there was no guide available, there was a ton of construction going on, and I didn't think very much detailed information was provided on plaques or in the audio guide. Our kids went into revolt and we never made it into the museum, we figured our trip to the Anthropology museum more than made up for it. Also no strollers are beverages are allowed which made it even more difficult to convince our small kids to have patience.

“Must Visit - a historic site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This is close to national palace and zokalo square. There was a temple in past, but now only remaining s are found. A guided tour service is available at the entry gate. I suggest take a guide so that you are explained well about the historic place and its importance. There are ancient remaining displayed at the museum and I would say you'll at least take 2-3 hours to completely see the museum. Outside the museum, are the historic remaining (the site) of templo de mayor.

“Very good and doesn't take too long”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

It is right next to the ruins and just a few meters from Zocalo Square so very easy to get to. You can see a lot in a short amount of time.
