We stayed 2 nights at this place. For orientation, the hotel is located a couple of blocks from The Basilica- so if you are on a pilgrimage, it is perfectly located. As far as visiting the rest of Mexico City- it is very close to the Metro subway system (just about in front of The Basilica) and other public transportation. By the way, traveling these ways is very cheap- 3 pesos per person per leg of trip. That is only about 20 cents, depending on the exchange rate. The hotel itself. Well, here is our story:
Traveled all night (8 hours) from the town we live in- Ciudad Madero. Arrived at 7 a.m., more or less, to the Norte bus station in Mexico City and took a taxi from there to the hotel (35-40 minute ride, cost about $7). Though check-in is 10 a.m., they allowed us to do so earlier (about 8 a.m.) without any hassle. It cost about $45/night for a king size bed room. Attached to the hotel is a (fantastic) restaurant. Each person gets a buffet breakfast each day with their stay !!! I don't mean some chintzy meal either- there is a gal there making omelets to order and they don't skimp on what that offer for the buffet either, nor do they skimp on being attentive to service. 1st class all the way. And, by the way, if you want something off the menu they will get it for you. My wife wanted a couple of pancakes and they brought them out without charge. The restaurant has a great menu for lunch and dinner, but I can't comment on them because we traveled far away from the hotel during our 2 days and didn't sample what they had- but surely it would have been good. I suggest you look at their website for photos and other great things related to and about the hotel. By my review of the hotel is that you could not ask for any better service and facility than we were provided. Every thing was clean and safe. They miss not one detail in taking care of you. They provide info in English also, if you need it. On of the great services was that when we wanted a taxi, they called one for us and the rate was on a display in the lobby- so you know what it would cost before you ask for a cab. They provide a very comfortable place to wait for your taxi. Like I said, they are very detailed and customer service oriented. Can't go wrong.
