“Excellent stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of December, 2014. The staff was very helpful. All front desk agents and concierges speak English! Santiago exceeded our expectations by finding us different type of room that we needed at the time of check-in. Concierge Martin was supreme in service!!! Breakfast was great. Location was excellent as we wanted to stay in Centro Historico & close to subway.

The location, two blocks from the Zocalo and Catedral, is great. The room was subpar at best. Very small, NO WINDOWS, dribbling shower. The breakfast was mediocre. No concierge to speak of, though the staff was helpful if you asked them to contact someone about a trip or tour. You must decide between a great location and a nice room.

This hotel was an ideal location for exploring the Zocalo and some of the great Mezcal bars in the other direction. Only 2 downsides, breakfast was so-so, with the typical scrambled eggs and cereal. The other issue is that the doors shut really loudly. Otherwise hotel is on the newish side, very clean, and has a great shower, after those longs days walking the streets!

Room Tip: Higher floors with a window

As you said our location is great, just two blocks away from the Zócalo you can do almost everything from here, we are taking notes about the breakfast and the problem with the doors, thank you for helping us to be better.

We take great pride in hosting to all and each one of our guests, as one of our goals is to exceed their expectations in every aspect of the visit to our hotel.

make sure your room has a window when you book a room. my room has no window and it will cost $59 more a day to get a window room. It was kind of depressing to stay in the room for long. breakfast is good and staff are helpful

I really sorry about the view, due the distribution of this historic building we do have rooms that have no exterior view, because of the high occupancy we were not able to give you another room of the same category with a view, that's the reason of the cost of the upgrade to a superior room with a view, we really appreciate your comments about our staff.

We take great pride in hosting to all and each one of our guests, as one of our goals is to exceed their expectations in every aspect of the visit to our hotel.

A good hotel in a great location with everything you need in a city centre location. The only mixed blessing was that our room had an obscured glass light well window but this meant a very quiet stay in a hotel in a busy location.

I rated this based allowing allowing credit for 2 past good experiences my wife and I had at this Hampton. Unfortunately our most recent visit was again very disappointing. Upon arriving we were checked into room 102 . At first glance the room was perfectly fine and while small very well within our expectations. After about 5 minutes we heard the very noticeable sound of what seemed or be an external refrigeration/air conditioning unit start up that was followed by the rattle of the interior window. I walked over to the window which had been frosted out but was still letting in light from whatever was on the other side. This a/c unit, and the associated noise started and stopped every 10 - 15 minutes. We gave it a bit and decided to ask for another room as the off and on start up of the a/c was simply way too loud. We were told that the only room that was available was a smoking room on the 6th floor - I visited it but understandably there was a notable smell of smoke ( on a positive note the gentleman that showed us the room said he would ask the cleaning staff try and clear the scent).
We decided to stay 102. The room temperature was warm so we lowered the a/c after about 10 minutes it hadn't dropped so we tried of lower it again but that didn't work. We asked the front desk for assistance- they had a facility support person promptly attend - he assured us the a/c was working. The temperature ended up staying at 20.5 all night and no a/c came out of the ceiling either vent all night.
The start/stop of the external a/c unit (which by the way wasn't part of the unit a/c) continued every 15 minutes all night. Then there was the loud noise of what seem to be someone banging pipes or something (the window was frosted so you can't see what is up).
At one point the evening I went on the hotel website and it said there was 5 rooms available (including a smoking room) despite being told only the smoking room was available.
After not sleeping the majority of the night the shower water facet didn't work properly.
One very positive note was the gentleman that worked helping us to get taxi's and showing us the room on the 6 the - he was very engaged and attentive.

I recently visited Mexico City for a few days before traveling north for Dia de Los Muertos. I loved the museums and we found great restaurants. The hotel was perfect--good location, great Mexican breakfasts, cordial and professional staff. Upon arriving at my next destination, I realized that I had left my jewelry pouch in the safe of the hotel room. I called immediately and it was retrieved. After some back and forth because of my rusty Spanish, the pouch was sent to me in the US. I cannot say enough about the concierge and other staff who secured my pouch of sentimental pieces of jewelry, sent it to me even though my credit card number was mistaken, and followed up with a phone call to ensure that I had received it. The service was above and beyond!
