“A rather charming place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Cafe tacuba is right next to the Metro stop Allende. The decor is wonderful, really nice tiling. The staff were friendly and they had a mexican folk band playing which created a good atmosphere. The food was good, but pricey for what it was i thought. The staff were helpful and offered me meat free equivalents to most things on the menu which is always nice (im veggie).

“Friendly and colourful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

The tiled decor inside is worth a visit alone. The food is traditional and tasty although not amazing. But the vibrancy of the place, the live music and the overall effort in the service carried the night.

“Fabulous Typical Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

The best restaurant service we had on our entire trip! The waitress was genuinely concerned that our dishes were to our liking and even recommended alternatives based on our "spiceyness" pallet. FYI-ask for salt and pepper shakers since a new law passed prohibiting their being placed on the table to limit the rate of cardiac damage to locals businessmen.

“Good food, beautiful decor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Food was good, not great, but the ambiance makes this a place where you’d like to stay for a bit longer. There are several intricate details all around that deserve attention. The mariachi band can get loud when you are trying to have a conversation over meal, and I did not completely appreciate that they make the rounds and one felt obligated to tip them, but that is typical of all tourist attractions. I would recommend the enchiladas and tamales, although each person has a different taste for traditional dishes. Service was slow, and not very pleasant.

“Beautiful Ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

I live in Mx City and had lunch with a friend here last week. We shared a nice vegetable salad and a combination plate which was enough for the both of us. I had a delicious Marguerita, I think they use real limes and not a mix. However, it was expensive and the serving was quite small. Same goes for their Cappuccinos, also small but not expensive. The ambiance is beautiful with lots of colorful tiles and skylights, one looking like Moctezuma's headdress. Service was good and the roaming Mariachi's were delightful to listen but weren't overpowering or obtrusive. We were there in the middle of a Sat. and got right in but I know they get very busy later on in the day. It's close to the main plaza, the Zocalo, so they get a lot of tourists but locals like it also.
