“One of the favorite places”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

I dont go there in particular for the food but for the ambience! This is the place to meet cool people and spend a nice weekday evening. There is music, one can dance and it's a truely mexican place. Strongly recommend to people that are looking not only for nice food, but to have a good time in Mexico DF!

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

I wanted to go to this restaurant after Rick Bayless did a stint on it on one of his "Mexico-One plate at a time" shows. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was good. I ordered a plate called "cuatro cositas" and one of the cositas was an enchilada "Tacuba" and that was delicious! It took the staff awhile to take our order and to bring us coffee and then we had to ask for the sweet bread and then again for more coffee. So I was not impressed with our 2 waitresses. But I am planning on going back again just because the the enchiladas were great tasting.

“Great food and service with a side of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Cafe Tacuba has been around for over a 100 years. Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera had their wedding party here. The service is excellent with the waitstaff dressed in traditional garb. The food was wonderful. The enchiladas tacuba were our favorite, but all of the food was fresh and well presented. The restaurant itself looks modest from the outside, but the inside is full of beautiful woodwork and tiles. The prices are very affordable.

“Traditional Colonial Charm + Good Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

Located in the historic centro area close to the Zocolo, The Cafe Tacuba was recommended by our hotel. The atmosphere is puro Mexicana with walls covered in beautiful Spanish tiles and beautiful architectural details. The Cafe Tacuba is celebrating 100 yrs of service this yr (2012) so they must be doing something right!

The food was delicious - fish w/garlic, potaoes & mixed salad and of course fresh fruits. The waitresses all wore white uniforms with cute little hats - all very professional and it added to the ambience!
I would def recommend and will plan on eating there again when I'm in Mexico City!

“Proper Mexican cuisine, elegant interiors, attentive service, historic neighbourhood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

This restaurant has proved to be my favourite in Mexico and maybe in all the world. Mexican is my favourite cuisine, and nowhere outdoes Cafe de Tacuba for authentic recipes, gorgeous dining rooms, brilliant service and great location in the very heart of one of the most dynamic cities in the world!

There is plenty of choice on the menu for vegetarians. Ask the waiter for his advice if you need help selecting an entree. The enchiladas are splendid!

This is very much a place where Mexicans go to eat. At lunch and dinner there will be mostly Mexican business men and some families and not so many international tourists. This is evidence that this is a proper Mexican restaurant. Enjou your meal. Salud!
