“Wonderful. Highly Reccomended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

I stayed at El Hostal-Inn for a little over a week at the beginning of September, and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in Guanajuato. The location is amazing- only a short walk from Las Momias, the incline to see La Pipila, Mercado Hidalgo, bars, and a plethora of picturesque cafes and restaurants. I literally couldn’t have asked for more, location-wise.

The owner, Raoul, is very friendly and knows the town very well, so he can help with any questions or advice on how to spend a day in the city. Also, very helpful- Raoul’s English is very good, which was wonderful for someone like me, who spoke very limited Spanish at the time of my trip.

The view from the rooftop patio is breathtaking. La Pipila is in perfect view, and the lights from the houses on the hills look like stars at night. It’s truly beyond words. Raoul has managed to collect some really adorable antiques to decorate the place with, which fits in well with the charm and bright colors of the town. The rooms are very spacious, and have lots of natural light. The common areas and kitchen are very nice, and I felt very at home.

El Hostal-Inn is clean and well-kept. I have no complaints to offer there, and this is coming from a particularly squeamish traveler. The shower is communal, so I would recommend flip flops, as with any public shower, but again, everything seemed very clean to me. No local fauna present inside, and a cleaning woman comes in daily.

I didn't read jgalvis's review prior to staying at El Hostal-Inn, and I'm glad, because it probably would have scared me away from this amazing place. All of GTO is hilly with narrow streets- that's unaviodable. Other than that, my experience was the mirror opposite of their description.

Coupled with very reasonable rates, and there’s really no reason not to stay here. I know I'll be coming back in the future.

Nice place to stay , clean, and near to center of Guanajuato,
nice view from the hostel.
Raul ( person in charge of hostel ) is very kind person and also
the best guide at the night.
I went there with my japanese friend (female ) and she likes this
place too.
Just the entrance has not good appereance but is point to improve.
Even no good appereance was safe place for us even at night.

This place is tramp, dirty, smelly and hilly narrow ways to get there. The bathroom smells like sewer seems like the place had not plumbing vent pipes, shower floor was dirty full of hair, the mirror was stained black completely.Raul was there waiting for us to get the money and he disappeared for good. The kitchen was full of dirty pots, pans and dishes. The entrance up the hill had dog's poop and smelled awful, the houses next door were rundown buildings with broken windows and smelly garbage all over. The towels were discolored so much, my wife did not take a shower there and I did only one time in two days. Raul left and did not gave us the wifi code at all. You have to climb up the small hilly roads to get to the hostal. What an awful experience we had there.

Room Tip: Look before you buy on internet, ask other forums......check the places for references.
