“Absolutely Exquisite.. Quiet, tasteful beautiful rooms, gourmet breakfast...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2009

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights March/09 in Guanajuato, Mexico, using the Casa Estrella de la Valenciana as our base to explore the area. The hotel is easy to find ( follow the signs for Dolores Hidalgo). It is situated in a very convenient yet quiet residential with fanastic views of one of Mexico's most picturesque's city. The rooms are all large with Mexican theme but with comfy American beds, beautiful linens, huge thick towels and all the amenities.

Sharon, partowner has put together a fantastic staff. From Javier greeting you at the car to take your suitcases to the kitchen staff, they are all there to help. Sharon is a wealth of information and was so accomodating to all her guests. My husband was very impressed with the level of personal service.

Beautiful pool, terraces, library, DVD collection when TV wasn't enough, honor bar, internet... Casa Estrella has it all.. And only a 40 pesos ride to the centre of town... (less than $3).. We have stayed at small boutique hotels all over Mexico in the last 10 years but this rates the highest for us.. Will recommend to all our friends..

We spent 3 wonderful days in Guanajuato, staying at Casa Estrella. What a treat!
The Valenciana suite had a jacuzzi and an open air sitting area next to the bedroom.
The staff was very attentive, arranged sightseeing for us, and served us a huge, delicious breakfast on the patio, which had a gorgeous view.
Taxis came promptly so we could get back and forth to town easily and inexpensively.

The reviews of Casa Estrella have been so good that my partner and I were a little apprehensive that expectations couldn't be met. Within 30 seconds of our arrival, we knew that they could. Within 24 hours, our expectations were exceeded.

The setting is absolutely magnificent - located on the Valenciana hill overlooking Guanajuato. The house has been meticulously developed and maintained and the grounds are a veritable garden of Eden. Since we were attending the very popular Cervantino Festival, we knew that we would prefer Casa Estrella's location outside of the city proper as a place of respite. It was that and more.

What we did not expect was the accomodating nature of the staff, which went out of their way to make us feel like we were in our own home. Sharon and her staff very obviously love what they do and it shows in every little nuance of service. So we were trying to locate the "will call" box office for tickets to the festival - Sharon volunteered to drop us off at the box office. "It's no bother. I'm headed into town anyway," she said. Later, when we were trying to determine how we might hire a driver to get us to Santa Rosa de Lima about 15 kilometers to the north in the mountains, "Oh, Javier can take you," Sharon said. And so he did, not only taking us to Santa Rosa, but also stopping off at the studio and home of one of the masters of Mexican ceramic arts, Capelo.

The room was amply spacious, comfortable and very clean. One of the nice "extras" of staying at a small inn or B&B like this is the opportunity to meet fellow travellers. Our breakfasts were not only filling and delicious, but filled with pleasant conversation.

This is truly a world-class inn in a world-class city. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

My husband and I spent a wonderful five days at Casa Estrella, enjoying the excellent breakfasts along with the beauty of the inn.and its surroundings. We spent a good deal of time there, enjoying the library and living room along with our own room and terrace. The village of Valenciana has a beautiful cathedral along with a good restaurant which unfortunately closes at 6:00 p.m. You can see the ruins of the old silver mine and get to experience Mexico in all of its contrasts. While visits to Guanajuato require a taxi, they were easy to arrange and it was always a pleasure to return to the quiet of the inn. The two Xaviers were especially helpful and knowledgable.

  • Liked — beauty of the inn and it s surroundings
  • Disliked — need to take a taxi to anywhere but the adjacent village

Luckily my neighbor and I hooked up with Betsy of My Mexico Tours. We spent 4 nights in Casa Estrella as she knows the owner Sharon very well. Sharon is the best! All of the staff were wonderful. Really nice people.
What a fabulous place. I wasn't used to staying at B&B's but that has changed after this experience.
The rooms were beautiful, The view and the breakfasts on the patio overlooking Guanajuato and all of the area can not be beat. The property is beautiful. Sharon went out of her way to do everything to help us. And the gift shop is so special.
Guanajuato and the Valencia area are just fabulous, it really was the best trip. Thank you Sharon, I miss you and Chiquita....Marsha

We just returned from our trip to Central Mexico and we were very impressed with the service and staff of Casa Estrella in Guanajuato. Sharon the owner was from the States and was very helpful. She has created a beautiful Inn looking down on the city. Her staff, especially the two Javier's where knowledgable and spoke good english. We had Javier give us a tour of the city and he took us to places we may have missed with out his help. The Casa provided a delicious full breakfast and was impeccably clean. The rooms where decorated beautifully, with local artwork. Everyone made us feel comfortable and special. We would defiantely go back again.
