Our recent trip to GDL was really a HUGE history lesson, we learned so much. GLD was under Spanish rule along with the rest of Mexico for over 300 years before it was self governing. Because of this there are many building that the spaniards build as government buildings, houses, and of course their magnificent churches. GDL has over 350 churches many of them are neo-classical and neo gothic; their Altars compare with many of the European churches that I have seen.
GDL is a thriving city of almost 6 million people and there is something for every taste and culture. Getting around in taxi is the easiest and quickest way. The people are friendly and always willing to recommend different places to eat and things to see. We would recommand GDL to anyone who is wanting to learn more about Mexico or who want to plan a family vacation because there is so much to see and do.
