Since I've come to Guadalajara twice within 2 months, I would highly recommend the NH Guadalajara as a top-notched hotel. Its location is on the Ave. of Americas, just north of downtown GDL, in a growing suburb callled Zapopan. Centrally located within the corporate and financial district, it exudes elegance both outside and within. It is one of the cornerstones of a small shopping mall, Punto Sao Paulo, which offers a movie theater, jeweler, banks, stores, casino and quite a few good quality restaurants, with an especially good Argentinian restaurant/bar next door to the hotel. The NH lobby is beautiful with marble everywhere, gorgeous fresh flowers and a front desk staff who will go out of their way to help make your stay perfect. Since I was traveling solo, I appreciated the numerous security measures taken, as you cannot utilize the elevators without swiping your room card first and the shopping mall area is flooded with plenty of security guards. Never once did I, a younger American female, feel insecure or at risk of any harm or wrongdoing. There is also a large open air mall, Andares mall, with many high-end stores and restaurants to spend time at, that is a short taxi ride away. Between my 2 stays in GDL, I have spent almost 3 weeks total booked at the NH. The way the hotel is configured, there isn't a room without a great view....of the country club golf course, surrounding corporate bldgs and a panoramic view of greater Guadalajara. The rooms on the higher numbered floors (14 total), have the best views. Guest rooms are clean and contemporary with dark hardwood floors, flat screen TV and a spacious bathroom with large vanity, separate toilet and ceramic tiled shower with rainfall showerhead. Complimentary toiletry amenities are of good quality. There is a large closet in the bedroom area which houses a luggage rack, drawers, cubbies, electronic safe and mini-bar. Beds are comfortable and and housekeeping attends daily to your room needs, although not many speak english. They have a greatly equipped fitness center ready to cater to all your workout needs. There is a great breakfast buffet with indr. and outdr. seating. Made-to-order omelets and eggs, classic mexican fare, fresh fruits & juice, hot american BF fare of french toast, pancakes & cereal, as well as, a great selection of BF pastries and breads. Definately worth adding this to your daily stay for 150 pesos/BF meal. One exceptional aspect of this hotel is its staff, as they will do whatever is needed to enhance your stay and any issues are cared for promptly. With spending a considerable amount of time at the NH, coupled with the fact that I am a travel agent, who has experienced many different accommodations throughout the world, I would rate the NH Guadalajara a "must stay here" 5-star hotel.
