“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2008

The room was nice and clean. There are two computers in the lobby with free internet access. The gym/spa looks very nice although we didn't use them. There is a bus stop within walking distance if you don't mind taking it downtown. It's very cheap and only costs 5 pesos. On the other hand, a Taxi costs around 50-80 pesos.

We just returned from a fabulous stay at this hotel. The service was up to every Hilton standard. The staff did everything in its power to make our stay enjoyable. Everyone spoke English and wore a smile. They were clean, efficient and knowledgeable. The hotel is a businessman's paradise, being located across from the Expo Center. There is not much in the immediate vicinity to walk to (and we missed that). But cabs were there 24/7 and were relatively cheap. Staying on the Executive Level got us a fairly good hot American breakfast (from cereals and fruit to eggs and bacon, etc) and a nice cocktail hour with assorted hors d'oeuvres and wine & beer (no cocktails). The hotel 3-meal restaurant was clean and good but a bit pricey. The Angus Steakhouse was touted as really good but was empty and expensive. There's a lobby ATM & hotel will change money too. Plus there's a gift shop and car rental and bar. The room was spacious with wide screen TV (but alas! no paper TV Guide so we never knew what was on HBO, Cinemax, etc). Robes, slippers, fluffy towels, room safe, dresser, small closet and hair dryer all were present. Plus a fresh rose a day & American newspaper. We saw the staff was kid friendly though this wsasmore of an adult hotel. I would rate it highly and not hesitate to stay there again. Concierge was sooo helpful too. A few good side trips too (tequila factory, Tlaquepaque artisan area, downtown historic center, Lake Chapala and Ajijic, local pewter shop - all good).

  • Liked — Cleanliness and staff hospitality & knowledge
  • Disliked — A bit of a distance from downtown but cabs were cheap

I am Mexican and my husband is American. We stayed here with our teenage daughter for three days while attending a family reunion. We had travelled throughout central Mexico for @ 12 days before coming here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The rooms were clean, comfortable, with great mattresses and bedding (not always great in Mexico!), excellent air conditioning, nice TV with cable, etc. This was one of the most comfortable hotels we've been to in Mexico. As to the artwork in the room, we loved it!. They were real, numbered lithographs by a Mexican artist. We saw other pieces by the same artist at a gallery in Tlaquepaque.

The only thing I did not like, is that they don't have ice machines; if you need ice, you have to call room service.

The gym was excellent, with modern, new equipment.

We ate at the steak house and I found it overpriced for the quality. Also, our teen daughter did not appreciate the scantily clad waitresses (I thought we were back in 1970's). The main restaurant, Vitrales, had a very good breakfast buffet, and an excellent Sunday brunch.

The hotel is so great. It has a good location around the city, but they have horrible paintings on the rooms that are so freak, scary and diabolic. I cant sleep so well and you could feel a heavy atmosphere.
They have an excellent room service and also the meat restaurant in the lobby is good.

Reserved 1 night in normal room. Room had a great bed, and beautiful view of Guadalajara. Clean room and reasonably spacious. Breakfast was included at 100 pesos extra, and was a good (not great) buffet. Check-in was very polite, courteous, and unusually efficient for Mexico. Good location, although not walkable to tourist attractions.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff, pretty, super-clean and even posh rooms. get the included breakfast if you can. it will last you all day and is very mexican .... four different types of freshly-squeezed fruit juices and huge numbers of different dishes.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2007

Just completed my third stay at the Hilton-Guad. The location is excellent. Only a 10-minute walk (safe) to Plaza Del Sol, which is a shopping complex, in case you need to pick up something or just stretch your legs. The hotel is next door to the Expo Convention center, which is very convenient if you are going to an event there, or just to browse through whatever show might be going on.

Standard Hilton look and feel. Rooms are very clean, and the furnishings are recent and in very good condition. The continental breakfast on the club floor is disappointing, but the buffet breakfast in the main restaurant is very good. The in-house steak-house (Angus) has good food, but is overpriced for the quality. You'll find lots of business men here ogling the waitresses in their skin-tight outfits.

The pool is very nice (but shallow) and rarely occupied when I have been there. Gym equipment is new and in great shape.

Don't expect a newspaper delivered to your door in the morning. If you order room service, you will need to call someone to come pick up the tray when you are done, or it will sit in the hall until much later the next morning.

A very nice Hilton. Better than many I have stayed at in the States.
