“Large Plaza”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

A must see if you are near by. I wouldn't pay cab fare to be there. Interesting for what it contains as opposed to what it is. Good concert venue. Nice to walk across while viewing neighbouring buildings. People travelling across it. One large, paving stoned piece of concrete in an area where a little more green would be better.

“Very pleasant and scenic area to walk around.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

The entire plaza is full of interesting things to see, buildings, courtyard, vendors, and interesting displays of artwork such as large brass chairs with very unusual shapes and images.

Definitely you should considering going to walk around, especially in the morning or late afternoon.

“Lively with some great sightseeing and photo ops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Plaza de la Liberacion sits between two magnificent pieces of architecture, Teatro Degollado and Cathedral de Guadalajara. So the photo ops are there for the taking. On the weekends it fills up with people so it has a lively vibe with some street performers and such. The day we were there an indigenous dance troupe performed a variety if traditional Nahuatl routines that were pretty impressive. And this is a great location to start your sightseeing because the Plaza de Armas is just west of here, or if you head east you are on your way to the Mercado Libertad and the Cabanas. There is also a very helpful information booth in the plaza and all around the square are local food options. Also within walking distance is Santa Maria de Gracia, the Governor’s Palace, and the Corona market.

“Gret city plaza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

In the very heart of Central Guadalajara you will find this magnificent plaza to sit or walk around, have a snack and get to see locals just enjoing the day. Wonderful views for photographers, nice flowered garden. Surrounded by limestone buildings. Plenty of places to buy or eat. Shoe shine, tourist info booth, light rail station.

“people watching at it's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

One of the first plazas I ever saw in Guadalajara, some 30 years ago, it has changed little in appearance. I know that new trees have been planted to replace the large older ones that were getting just too big for this plaza-and new lighting that shines up from the sidewalks onto the historical buildings surrounding it have been added. But the two large fountains at each end still remain the same. Benches surround the entire plaza that faces the teatro delgeado and the cathedral on the other side. It is still fun just to sit and watch many people passing by or the many free concerts held there at any given day. This is a very family oriented plaza, so watch out for the little ones!
