“Degollado, a Bit of Culture in the Middle of Guadalajara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Degollado is the name of the municipality where the theater is. It is also a last name. It means "beheaded." Teatro Degollado is a neoclassical Mexican theater known for its diverse performances and artistic design. It is located on a downtown plaza of Guadalajara, Jalisco. It has been recently refurbished and is very well known and the pride of the people of Guadalajara. It was smaller than we expected but some how reminiscent of La Scala de Milan. A must visit for sure.

“an awesome theatre with great performers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

I went to the Chopin series last year and it was the best concert experience I had ever had. The pianist was awesome and even played my favourite polonaise as the end. The theatre is very cozy and there is a theatre bar for drinks before and after and during the intermission. It is a great place, and in a great location in the center of Guadalajara. I came back this year to go to the new season of classics but ALL the tickets were sold out for the whole month. Book early!

“great but closed!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Nothing wrong with the theater but... went there 3 days in a row (noon to 2 PM) and couldn't acces because of rehearsals. I guess Christmass time isn't the best for that. Anyway, it's in the area you should and will visit.

“Nice facade”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I couldn't visit the interior given some kind of rehersal going on inside, so I just enjoyed the outside.

“Marvelous!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Every winter my wife and I drive from Ajijic to downtown Guadalajara on Sundays to hear the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra perform at the beautiful Teatro Degollado. The Sunday matinees at 12:30 p.m. cost from $8 to $16.... a bargain compared to US and Canada. The teatro is simply stunning and always full - mostly local citizens. Music and sound quality is as good as I have heard in famous European theaters. We usually have brunch at the little restaurant at the front of the teatro.
