“Just ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Can't remember much. Nothing sticks out for me just that it is central. Skip it. Wait for a wedding to spruce it up.

“Convenient for tourists”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

This place is OK as far as Cathedrals go. What I enjoyed was sitting at the restaurant with the umbrellas and watching people come and go into the Cathedral. Since it is on a road that is high traffic, it is easy to find transportation when you wish to leave, including the subway.

“Sort of a let down for such a large city in Mexico”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

You should visit this cathedral by all means, but I was not that impressed with its "grandeur". I've seen more magnificent churches and cathedrals in Mexico. But you should include this in your visit to GDL.

“magnificent symbol of guadalajara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The twin spires are indeed the symbol of this huge sprawling city. The cathedral complex takes up an entire city block and houses an additional chapel. It is clearly a destination for local pilgrims and is a magnificent home for devout Mexican Catholicism. Sit through a mass if you are able and sense both the holiness of the place, as well as the spiritual devotion of the congregation - this recommendation from a passionate skeptic of organized religion. The late afternoon light (October) on the front of the cathedral complex with its spires and domes offers opportunities for spectacular photography.

“It's Big and Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

Every city/town/pueblo in Mexico has a church. Guadalajara has many, but this Cathedral is their main one. Free to go in, but make sure you check out the secret room under the altar!
