Reasonable accommodation is tough to find in Cuernavaca: it is either too expensive or leaves much to be desired. Casa La Malinche fills the gap very nicely. Doug (from Southern Ontario) and Betty (from Mexico) are the gracious and accommodating hosts in this lovely home. It is situated at the end of a quiet (you can barely hear the roosters), residential street on the edge of a deep ravine (you walk down two flights to your room). Rooms are clean, water is hot (remember the tap on the right is hot) and the delicious breakfast (fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, granola, fruit, toast and coffee) is served on the terrace and available at your convenience. Cable TV is available and I was told high speed wireless internet will be available soon. The price is very reasonable, I think we paid about $55.00 US a night. It is not conveniently located on or near a bus (known locally as a colectivo) route, but taxis are inexpensive and available with a phone call or a five minute walk to the main street (Compositores). A taxi ride to the Zocalo is about $3.50 US. Besides having all the physical amenities, the best part of Casa La Malinche are the wonderful hosts; Doug and Betty.
