“Wonderful school!!!”

I just returned from a 2 week immersion program at ASLI. As a ‘mature’ woman traveling solo, I can say that during my time in Cuernavaca and also several days in Mexico City, I never saw or experienced anything that in any way made me anxious about my safety. From the time I met my wonderful ‘family’ until the day I said ‘hasta luego’ I felt totally cared for…and truly like a part of the family. The food each day was absolutely wonderful (breakfast and the main meal in the afternoon). When I said that I enjoyed trying new dishes, I was treated to some wonderful Mexican specialties. My mouth is watering as I write this!
This is my first experience with an immersion program but I cannot imagine a better environment. I worked with 2 excellent teachers and learned so much while enjoying wonderful conversations on lots of interesting topics (with lots of laughing which is important to me!). The atmosphere was very comfortable yet challenging enough to keep me on my toes! Everyone connected with the school is not only professional but helpful, warm, encouraging & patient. I highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to really have a positive learning experience.
¡Mil gracias por todo!

“Safe and Successful”

The danger of travel in Mexico is greatly exaggerated. In the past year I have spend six weeks in Mexico: 4 in Cuernevaca, 1 in Acapulco, and 1 in Cozumel. I felt safe and comfortable in each place. Yes, the federal police are more visible than they would be in the US, but that made be feel safer, not less. And SLI is situated in a city and location that is even safer. One day I walked from the school to my home away from home, 3 miles by myself. I was entirely comfortable and felt secure. The school itself is even more secure. They have three locked gates at the entrance, and the entire campus is surrounded by high walls. As for my Spanish studies and the teachers, all were excellent. I took private lessons for three weeks, and my teacher helped me develop vocabulary that was specific to my life and occupation, in addition to teaching me more of the basics of Spanish grammar. My conversation classes were stimulating and fun. We discussed and debated some of the most current issues of the day, developing new vocabulary each day. And the administrative staff make you feel like you are a welcomed guest, if not a part of the family. I stayed in the home a Mexican family during my visit. This was a great experience. The food was superior. The conversations each day were helpful to my learning process. And my Mexico "mama" was hospitable and attentive to my needs as a guest in her house. Muchas gracias, SLI, para una grand experiencia.

“Te extrano mucho, ASLI!”

I spent 3 weeks at ASLI in Cuernavaca and can't wait to go back! I chose Cuernavaca because of its climate and good reputation from foreigners and mexicans. Not only did I love the city, I also loved the school, class structure, the amazing teachers and lovable staff. Classes are small and practically seem like private lessons. The teachers are patient and constantly ensure all students are engaged through out the lessons. I didn't know any spanish when I arrived, and when I left I was able to get around the country and 'platicar' with the locals and most importantly with my amazing host family. Can't wait to go back!

“Great Place to Learn & Play”

This is the 2nd year that I have taken students to SLI in Cuernavaca MX for a Study Abroad experience. The school is very well run and provides an excellent learning environment. Classes are small and tailored to the needs of the students. The owners of the school are professional and provide a very comfortable yet challenging experience. The teachers are good at personalizing the class. The excursions arranged by the school are personalized and top notch. It is a great place to meet Spanish language learners from around the world!

“Great Learning Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2010

I was first encouraged to attend the school by a friend that had been there previously. I found the school to be very well organized with professional teachers providing a quality education in a very relaxed atmosphere. Classes are approximately 50 minutes long with scheduled breaks between classes. Classes are small, in well ventilated and well light classrooms. The entire complex is well suited for learning with immersion in the spanish language emphasized. The first time I attemded (with limited spanish background), everyone made it comfortable and a great learning experience. All levels of Spanish are taught from very basic to the complex. I've returned twice since and not suprisingly, many of the same people keep returning every year because its an unbelievably great experience. I have met some people that have returned as many as 15 times which for me, says it all. Lodging (with two meals) is normally included as part of the package for a nominal fee and well worth the money.
