A slice of paradise in Cuernavaca. After a beautiful drive in from Puebla we were greeted at Casa Chocolat by owners Christine and Cathy(expat Canadian and British) who welcomed us into their cozy bed and breakfast in the Colonia Acapantzingo section of Cuernavaca. About a kilometer from the center of town the neighborhood has a number of little galleries as well as places to dine (we loved Ta.Co!) and it is well suited for getting in and out of town quickly; a bonus since our plans took us to Taxco the next day.
What can we say about the breakfast, a giant plate of perfectly arranged fresh fruit started us off, followed by a delectable vegetable quiche with bacon and potatoes for the carnivore (Jean-Pierre) and a homemade loaf of seven grain wheat bread (unbelievable). If this weren't enough, there was fresh homemade yogurt and granola, as well as orange juice and plenty of coffee. The piece de resistance was the last course, which we opted to take for our drive and consume later (lovingly packaged in beautiful doggie bags): a chocolate raspberry muffin right out of the oven in and an enormous strawberry (squash ball sized), dipped in milk chocolate and finished with a white chocolate drizzle (heaven).
Your hostesses will give you quiet space of solitude if you need it, or assistance and a bit of conversation if you desire it. Every beautiful detail of flora and fauna at la Casa has been lovingly planned and attended to; and everywhere there is evidence that this is a true labor of love, and so it is no surprise that once again Casa Chocolate has earned their #1 ranking in their category.
We can only hope to have some time to enjoy the gorgeous pool, wonderful rooms and thoughtfully laid out entertainment area on our next visit. Be sure to save some time for relaxation at Casa Chocolate.
