“My New Favorite in Zihua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

This was an amazing dinner! I have been coming to Zihuatenejo for 11 years and have tried everything from vendors on Las Gatas to fine dining at some local spots and by far Candela is my new favorite. I was with friends who live here and have eaten everywhere (except there) and my husband. We each had something different to put Chef Richardo through the paces. The rib eye was outstanding and flavorful, the pork chop was tender with the most amazing adobe sauce, stuffed avocado was abundant with shirmp, and the tender spaghetti had lovely chunks of well spiced fish and tasty shrimp. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly with English learned in Seattle (so he speaks well...it's my hometown). He also had a KauKan shirt on because I believe this is a related restaurant. It shows in the quality of the food but the prices are reasonable enough to eat there everyday and we might. This restaurant is a MUST try for dinner and hear breakfast and lunch are great too.

“la candela, hmmmmmm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

ok since we arrived in Zihua (dec 14). we have eaten here 6 times. they close at 5pm so we even arranged to have our new years eve dinner there. Its a new restaurant in november 2013, so many people dont know this place. but it is owned by kau kan group and luis valle. So many bad places get great reviews here that this is a breath of fresh air. breakfast and lunch are delicious.

cmon guys add a dinner menu

“New and worth a try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

This restuarant was new to us this year. We have been staying at Madera beach for 5 years and are always looking for new places to try. They do seem to be going through some start up bumps but the food was excellent. The limon pancakes made with ricotta were a hit and the other breakfast items we tried were also very good. There are lots of places close to Madera beach for breakfast but you should give this one a try.

“Great dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

We went last night to Candela for dinner. It's a new restaurant, and we wanted to give it a shot. Nice ambience. Lots of ceiling fans. Attentive, helpful waiter. I had fish, which was done in a lemon and garlic sauce - excellent. My dining partners both had the lentil soup. Make sure you ask for Parmesan cheese to add - it makes an already good sopa into a great one. The avocado and shrimp dish was adequate for a main course, and the sea bass tartar held its own. The desserts are also good. We will surely be back to this establishment before we leave Zihua!

“Wouldn't Go Back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We went to Candela for breakfast. Nice enough looking place with about 5-6 tables. We ordered breakfast which consisted of 4 egg dishes that were on the menu. We waited 50 minutes and no breakfast. About at the 50 minute mark two workers came into the restaurant with bags of groceries. hmm....Really? Were we really waiting for the food to be purchased at the supermarket. We were wondering exactly how long eggs take to cook. Food was beginning to come out of the kitchen to the other tables who were there before us. I know this is Mexico and on Mexican time it can be slow but now at 60 minutes after ordering we asked for the check for the coffee we drank and left. Would we go back? Not on your life.
