“Wonderful hotel with excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

My wife and I stayed at this resort for two weeks in July of 2013. The rooms are wonderful and spacious with large balconies and beautiful views. The staff his VERY helpful and speak both English and Spanish. The resort restaurant and surrounding area does close down about 7 P.M.; however, there are plenty of restaurant open down town. This resort has a very relaxed atmosphere, so don't come here looking for the night life. We would come back for sure.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The room was very nice, spacious. Service was good. People are friendly. You can hear the waves while sleeping. Birds can be heard early morning. There were some bugs but nothing major, No complaints about all that. However there is after 6:30 PM nothing to do at this resort. No restaurant for dinner, no bar. The beach is nice if the litter would be cleaned up. The water has litter all over. It is really disturbing. I have no idea why the the Hilton Resorts are linked to this, because it is just not at that standard. Zihuatanejo is not a place I would ever stay again. We took a taxi to Ixtapa and that looks far nicer and cleaner. It is is considered the hotel zone, but the streets around the Marina and the hotels are clean without any litter. It is actually a world of difference between the two towns.
Apart from the resort, the people at the airport as soon as you arrive are very aggressive. The taxi to the resort is $35 basically a rip off for a 15 minute taxi drive. If you take a taxi anywhere else it is far cheaper. Also disturbing is the wave runner guy in the water. Keeps going back and forth to see if anyone wants to get a ride. When you are trying to swim in the water it is irritating, the guy should be banned from this part of the beach.
We took a fishing trip with Julio out of the Marina of Zihuatanejo, this was nice, the caught fish (black tuna) will be cooked by his mother and she did a nice job. We threw a lot back, there is plenty of it around. Also took a sailing trip at night from Zihuatanejo This was nice as well.
All around it was Ok, but my preference would be to go to Los Cabos or Puerto Vallerta. It is cheaper and easier to get to, I do not believe Zihuatanejo is worth the extra price you will have to pay to fly and get to it.

Room Tip: The closer you are to the pool, the less you have to use the stairs to get to the beach, but then th...

Our first trip to this wonderful destination. Can't wait to get back. Rooms were clean and unique. Views from the restaurant were beautiful and the staff couldn't be more friendly. It was a short walk to the village (all down hill) but we recommend a taxi back (very steep hill up). You need to be in good shape to get to the beach and back (no elevators but they do have a shuttle to the lower part of the resort).

I would give it a 5 star except the pool was a bit wanting, small.

First, about Club Intrawest at Zihuatanejo: The resort is built on a cliff and includes lots of stairs. They emphasize this on the site and are not exaggerating. I would not enjoy this resort with young children. The free laundry and spacious suites are wonderful. The construction (to the right as you look at the resort from the beach) would be horribly loud and dusty if active, but the project is paused at this time (2013).

About the restaurant: The restaurant lacks variety, though at the time of my visit they were switching from one chef to another. The American lady, there to help I think, was rude enough to make me wish I had skipped dinner. If you have seafood allergies, she doesn't really care.

About the Club Intrawest Dining program: They said I must prepay my meals before my arrival and did not say I had the option to pay per meal. That is not true! You can skip the meal plan and enjoy the cuisine at easily accessible local restaurants instead. I paid more than I needed to and am disappointed generally with the Club Intrawest dining policy.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the more stairs you'll climb but, the better the view!

My wife and I stayed at Club Intrawest for our Honeymoon, and it couldn't have been more perfect. It's not a mega resort overrun w/ tourists, so you can enjoy the hotel and all it offers w/o having to compete with noise and other people. The staff is incredibly friendly... David and Alfredo at the bar/restaurant were particularly helpful and really made us feel like friends instead of guests. I hope to return to Zihuatanejo and Club Intrawest in the future.

Room Tip: As long as you have a view of the bay, you're in a good room.

This was our second trip to Club Intrawest - Zihuatanejo and it was event better than our first time in 2009. We arrived somewhat stressed after missing a connecting flight in Mexico City and spending an unplanned evening there. Within minutes of arriving, all was forgotten thanks to the welcoming staff at the club.

We had a 1 bedroom, 2 bath room at the oceanfront. The view from the balcony was terrific and being able to hear the waves was very relaxing. There room was very spacious and the open air design helped us relax and slow down to Zi time, including daily siestas and early morning walks on the beach.

We used the meal plan and found it to be good value. I would highly recommend the private dinner on the beach for celebrating special occasions or enjoying time with someone special. We were celebrating our anniversary and the food and attentive service made it a very special evening.

We went for walks on the beach and into the town during our week in the sun and found everyone to be very helpful and welcoming. The staff at the Club were attentive and friendly and we would make special mention of the service provided by Wendy, Jesus, Isidro, Alder, Huber, Eloy, Salvador and Chef Mario. We attended a cooking class and now can make amazing guacamole and ceviche.

Overall, this was a relaxing week in the sun and a welcome opportunity to recharge and reinvigorate before heading back to the Great White North.

Club Intrawest is one of our favorite places.... The room (villa) was wonderful. The staff amazing.... Sweeping ocean views. Everything was perfect. Amazing restaurants that you can walk to, or a short cab ride away. Everyone there made our stay perfect. There is a HUGE grocery store that is a $5.00 cab ride away. Our cab driver even helped us shop! Other reviews talk about bugs, we did not have any problem. We got a couple of Mosquito bites, but not anymore than other tropical places we have been. In fact much less then when we were in St John. We will return again for another perfect vacation. Can't wait.
