Description: We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.

“Amazing Brunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

We made sure to visit Carmelita's during our stay in Ixtapa, since it was ranked so highly on TripAdvisor. The food was really good, and we really enjoyed some of the fruit-flavored water (we tried the watermelon and passion fruit types). All the seating is outside, but the place is tucked into a small corner near the Zihua city center so it can be a little difficult to find - luckily, our cab driver knew exactly where it was. He said that it was a popular place for the locals, which we knew was a good sign before we got there. The prices were very reasonable, but make sure you have cash.
Carmelita herself even stopped by to say hello and welcome us to her restaurant! We highly recommend stopping by if you're in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo!

“Creative menu”

Excellent blended fresh juices are a real treat. Really good food. Wish there were more vegetarian options...a challenge in Mexico.

“Carmelita's Cafe, Zihuatanejo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

As part-time residents here in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo we have many opportunities to visit several eateries in the area. We've visited Carmelita's on three different occasions and each time found the management very amiable. Chef Rick Bayless gave Carmelita's high marks for the food and ambiance. We, however, while in agreement that the food is tasty, found everything to be somewhat over priced.and, situated next to their dirt parking lot so that anytime someone drives in the dust flies everywhere. Carmelita's does a lot of business for breakfast but is not open late enough for the dinner crowd. Because there are so many additional good restaurants to be found in the Zihuatanejo area at more reasonable prices, good food and authentic atmosphere, we chose to not return to Carmelita's.

“Great Food”

Amazing food for breakfast and lunch, casual atmosphere, fantastic fried bananas! Family-owned place has very affordable prices. Sometimes they have life music performances.

“A must!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Went on a surf trip in June and celebrated Dan's bday there after him hearing how great this place is on tripadvisor. Wow we were blown away! Carmelita treated us like her own children, sampling all their specials and drinking the passion fruit juice (so refreshing). We were so impressed that we ended up eating at Carmelita's three times on our trip! Tell the taxi to take you to the super cacahuate (peanut). A must!!!!!!!
