“Quiet small hotel. Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

Family with 2 year old son were on 10 day vacation for good weather and warm ocean. Went to Zihatanejo for its bay where waves are muffled. Took a trip to Ixtapa and could see the difference. Waves are way more dangerous on the open beach.
Hotel has easy access to the beach (just 7-8 meters down stairs, not 20 or 30 like some others) and within walking distance from a dozen inexpensive but good restaurants (awesome "Candela" is less then 100 meters away) shops and facilities. Very quiet - we could sleep any time we like. The only noise source was air conditioner, but on ocean side you can turn it off for the night. Small fridge in every room, full size and a stove in a Junior suite. Staff was friendly but half of them doesn't speak english. Rooms are big enough. Hotel looks ok, clean and freshly painted, but still somewhat tired. Weak ACs, antic TV in a suite, chipped floor tiles, randomly spraying low pressure showers etc. are common. Beds are not comfortable but we are in Mexico... and weak Wi-Fi, no internet in rooms.
Mediocre hotel. Not very clean beach.
Although, considering how much we payed (thanx to Expedia), and how easy was the access to everything we needed, it was the great deal. We'll come again at least one or two times till our kid would need his peers attention more then parents'.

Room Tip: Garden side is cheaper but hotter then Ocean side. Restaurant, office (and Wi-Fi router!) are on t...

I stayed here for a month this past January / February. Next winter I plan on staying longer. The hotel is in a great location. Irma and her staff are very attentive as well as friendly. The rooms and grounds are very clean and well maintained. I'm looking forward to my next stay. As always the weather is great.

We spent 3 nights at Villas Miramar and had a very pleasant experience there. Our room was on the "jardin" (garden) side, very quiet and a very pretty setting. The room was large with 2 dbl beds, a sitting area, a small refrig., and a nice deck overlooking the pool. We were able to cross the street to the other side of the hotel and use the other swimming pool and the lounges on the terraced pool and beach-side areas. A small onsite restaurant is on the garden side, and a short walk down the street gets you to a choice of small, local restaurants and shops. Great location for getting to all of the "old town" parts of Zihuatanejo as well. The internet was free, but not great. The only small problem we had with the room was ants, and they came from the lovely flowers placed in the room. We hope that has been rectified by now. We paid $63US plus the taxes - great price for a pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: Mention any good price you see on the internet. Rooms on the garden side are very quiet.

We chose this hotel from Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The hotel was perfect for our family. We had two rooms on the Garden side. The location is great, you can walk most everywhere or cabs are always standing by. Close to many great restaurants and the beaches. The rooms were always clean and neat and the staff was great. Cheers to Irma and her great team!

Friendly and helpful staff; huge and spotless room and bathroom; swimming pool with view into the bay - you can walk down from pook into the beach and sea; calm but still at walking distance from downtown; restaurants in the area.

Room Tip: My room was not in the beach side, but very calm.

I had three problems with this hotel. It seemed expensive. By the time we booked through this site and paid all the associated fees, it was -- 140 CDN - a night, plus another 5 CDN to use the internet per day, which felt like a burn.

We were paying top dollar and the place was a bit "funky" in terms of construction and upkeep: old sheets, a tad rundown and cannot imagine how many people have sat/slept on the chair cushions since they were purchased in perhaps 1985. The kitchen is run down but adequate

You have to make your own fun, which we did. The view was great, but for the price, I wouldn't come back. There are better choices that provide breakfast or a night free if you stay longer plus internet.

During summer, this hotel is mostly visited by LARGE Mexican families. Rooms have kitchens encouraging families to share the room and cook. As most people have said, nice staff and gardens, clean pools, great view of Madera Beach and within walking distance of town and in a quiet little neighbourhood..

Good afternoon,

We appreciate every word you wrote very much. That is why we are attending our weakest points and trying to make our services and facilities every day look and be better and better. We usually have great deals and with wifi included that may be worth to try us again as your hotel in your next visit to Zihuatanejo.

The hotel is located on one end of Playa Madera (great beach for kids), In Colonia La Madera on a super cute street with plenty of restaurants near by and a short walk to the town center. The beach is easily accessible by a few stairs from the hotel grounds. There are two parts to the hotel, the ocean side and the garden side across the street with the lobby, a restaurant serving breakfast/lunch and a pool.

Stayed on the ocean side, beautiful gardens, pool and a bar (great happy hour). Lots of flowers, grass, and palm trees. There are plenty of chairs and lounge chairs, even more a step down towards the beach. Stayed in La Casita (2 bedroom/bath, living room, full kitchen) for a week, the unit was simple and did the trick. The price was really affordable and too good to pass up.

One great part about the hotel was the other guests. They were super friendly and social (some have been staying there every year for the past 20 years!), great to chat up during happy hour. It made it feel very homey.
