“Very Nice Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2011

i stayed here for two nights. its a really really nice place, very small, very cute. the rooms are comfortable, its a block from the ocean and its probably one of the cheapest hotels in town. the owners live on site and are really nice. they provide a small kitchen for general use and drinking water. there is no hot water in the showers and no wi-fi yet.

for the price, the location and how nice it is, you probably will not find a nicer place in all of mexico!

I loved staying in this traditional guesthome while in Zihua. It was safe, and comfortable and the owner is a delight. The morning birds would wake me up each day and the locale is in the heart of town.
First we stayed in a room with a two big beds and a shared bath, just fine!
After we returned, we stayed in the "pink honeymoon suite"
Super lovley little room, with a balcony and private bathroom.
I loved it here.
Not American at all, just perfect.

This family-owned establishment is in an excellent location at an excellent price. Situated right on the malecón, it's close to all of the action and the beach. Wander across the sidewalk in the early morning hours to watch the fishermen bring in their catch to sell or you can bring a towel and sunblock to roast the day away. It's also a few feet from the military naval base, so it felt very safe. The owners are very warm and welcoming and live on-site. They also operate the fancy seafood restaurant out back.

There was no A/C, but a fan was provided that got the job done. Rooms were large, neat, and clean. Some rooms have a bathroom, but I stayed in one with a shared bath two doors down. It looked rather old and worn, but was clean with "cool" water. As hot as the daily temperatures were, the coolness was welcome.

The only drawback was the noise. The really quiet times were 1am - 6am. If you like to go to bed early or are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. Because this location is the center of much activity, there are noises from local establishments, i.e. bars and restaurants, the street, and neighbors. Still, if you want to be in the midst of traditional Mexican life, Casa Elvira gives it to you straight, no chaser.
