This place is so awesome. It's slightly out of the way (about 20-25 min walk to beach; 10 min to main square) but we enjoyed the walk & the exercise. If you don't want the exercise, a taxi is cheap (20 pesos to beach). Our room was SPOTLESS. Really, really immaculate. And really nice, with tasteful decorations. It was huge, with two firm double beds, a TV, shelves, a table & chairs, a big window, a nice bathroom (with an enclosed shower stall and steaming hot water & good water pressure in the shower!). And it had wifi. And a clean pool.
The weird (not necessarily bad) part was that the owners/reception staff were nowhere to be seen. I called and made a reservation & was asked to just give my name (which is fairly normal). I arrived, said my name, and the cleaning staff showed us to our wonderful room. We didn't show a passport or fill anything out. Later, we wanted to know if we could stay one additional night and we repeatedly checked reception & no one was staffing it. Another guest showed us a bell to ring to get the owner to come downstairs. We asked for an additional night and he said, "Sure, no problem" without checking any book or recording anything. I told him we hadn't really checked in and he said, "Yeah, we're pretty casual here." Again, all of this was fine, just odd not to have to at least write my name down or anything. When we wanted to pay, we rang the bell, he appeared, and we gave him the money...a very fast & easy transaction.
The only other downside is that kids playing by the pool can be really noisy, but I'm especially intolerant of kids. Plus there are limited pool hours. This wasn't too big of a deal.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. For the price ($450 pesos/night) it's fantastic value.
