“Best German Restaurant in Mexico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Everybody who comes to Puerto Vallarta and likes excellent food, great German beer and a nice ambience should visit "La Hacienda Alemana", the best German Restaurant in Mexico. The dishes are authentic (I am German), the beer is great (you should try the wheat beer), the service is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. We will never forget the time we spend happily with Mike, the owner. Should you come to Puerto Vallarta, don't miss this excellent restaurant!!

“The Best German/American restaurant in the Romantic zone of Puerto Vallarta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

My wife and I accidentally stumbled on to this very clean restaurant 3 years ago, and now when we return to PV, we make it a point to stop by for a delicious , and romantic dinner in old town every trip. It's more than just German food. This restaurant makes you feel welcome with great waiters, ultra clean dining inside or out. Many times you will be visited by the owner, who is from Germany, and with one of his entries, unlimited beer. The food is excellent, the presentation is outstanding, and the cleanliness is unbelievable for Mexico.

“Way, way more than German food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

The only way I can explain why this restaurant isn't ranked higher on TA is that it's listed under the German category—not necessarily what people look for when coming to Mexico! Set aside the "Alemana" part and you've got an impeccable indoor (with AC!)–outdoor (probably the prettiest patio in Puerto Vallarta) haven serving perfectly prepared grilled meats, salads and seafood in addition to the excellent German specialties. They may have the best burger in town, too—you'll find it on the "Kids' Plate" list. If it's offered, be sure to start with the smoked marlin carpaccio and slather it onto the homemade bread. Everything is made from scratch, and the staff have been there for so long that it all runs like clockwork, consistent from one visit to the next (a rarity in Vallarta, as elsewhere).

Aside from the food, what makes Hacienda Alemana so special (and keeps some of us lucky locals returning week after week) is the hospitality and professionalism of owners Michael and Irma. Mike circulates constantly, welcoming and joking in three languages while keeping an eagle eye on the quality of the service and cuisine. The staff, as others have mentioned, are both warm and professional, even remembering your preferences from one visit to the next.
