“Great location right on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

This hotel is right on the beach and every room has a beach view. We were in the old tower on the 20th floor (actually 10th) and the view was fantastic. Slept with the balcony doors open and fell asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing to shore--gotta love it! Hotel is a little older but fairly well kept. Our room was a good size, clean and well equipped with stocked fridge, coffee maker, blowdryer, etc. There were no bathrobes in the room when we checked in but asked and they were there the next day. Service was very good everywhere at the resort. We like to spend most of our time at the beach but every now and then like to try the pools--here they are small, cold and busy. It was difficult to get a lounger at any of the pools except the one right outside the old tower. There are four a la cart restaurants which were all quite good with the Oceana being our least favourite. The buffet was decent and then there are the cafe and beach grill for limited choices.

A major complaint is that there is no free internet service if you stay in the old tower not even in the lobby--what the heck is that this day and age?? If you want internet you can go buy minutes in the store and use them in the cafe at one of their two computers or you can purchase internet for your room for an exorbitant amount at the front desk. Our friends did the presentation and got a room upgrade to the preferred tower and that room included internet--like come on!

If you have never been to Puerto Vallarta be careful at the beach the waves are always a little rough but can get really crazy at times. There were three wave related accidents while we were there--one leg injury and two face injuries involving many stitches and one broken nose.

Overall, this is one of the best resorts we have stayed at and definitely the best location we've ever had.

Room Tip: The higher floors will have the best views. If you take binoculars you can do some whale watching.

Approx. 50 family and friends stayed at the Dreams resort from Feb. 4-11, 2013 to attend my daughters wedding (held on the island of Las Caletas Feb. 7). I never thought I'd ever stay at the same resort twice but I'm definately going back to this one. When our large group arrived late and very tired on the 4th there were many issues with reservations (errors made by the agency in Vaughn ON), the front desk staff were remarkable in how they took care of everyone (fast, efficient, pleasant and very accomodating). The room was spotless and beautiful, the bed oooo so comfortable with fluffy white duvets and pillows. We tried room service twice and was very pleased with the food and service. The food choices in the buffett were unbelievable, delicious, fresh and always hot. There was something for everyone. The restaurants offered a relaxing beautiful ambiance by the sea with a wonderful, flavorfull selection of food and beverages. The beach was spotless and the vendors weren't pushy and respected when we said no thank you. We tried a day excursion and loved it. When my daughter initially booked her wedding in Mexico a few guests were concerned about their safety due to what was relayed in our local media but by day two of our vacation they were the first to take a cab into town to shop at the Boardwalk. I loved the flea market along the boardwalk. The taxi drivers and local vendors had a wonderful sense of humour, we walked, laughed and enjoyed all the sights and sounds. If you practice common sense there is nothing to fear in this beautiful country. We had the most phenominal vacation ever. The staff far, far exceeded our customer service expectations. We felt like celebrities. We also had professional photo's done on the beach by Cris at the resort. She captured some wonderful memories for us. I tired Parasailing for the first time and loved it. The instructors were knowledgeable, practice good safety and were very good at the service they provided. We can't wait to go back to Dreams and have been raving about our vacation since our return on Feb. 11th. Great job everyone!!!

Room Tip: We were told rooms with King size beds are on the lower floors so we ended up in an end unit on the...

We just came back from a week at Dreams PVR. It was fabulous; what everyone said on this forum is true. Food was absolutely amazing. Employees are super friendly. They were willing to share openly with you about their lives and make you feel like true Amigos. They say they truly love their jobs and often say it's the best job they ever had -- must be good management as the employees are always smiling, even when mopping the floors. Beach is quiet and you can always find a lounge chair under an umbrella. We stayed in the less expensive Dreams Tower and felt super comfy there as we don't like pretentiousness, but if you like more upscale luxury go for the newer tower. We had a few things that needed done and when we asked for them; they say with a genuine smile, "It's my pleasure." Well certainly the pleasure was all ours and we will certainly return here again and again.

This was our third trip to Dreams PV for the Super Bowl, and I cannot say enough good things about this resort. We were a little concerned that things may have changed since last time after it left the Preferred chain but if anything, it's better than ever! Comfortable and well-appointed rooms, beautiful grounds, a wide variety of delicious food, and plenty to do when you're not just chilling on the private and peaceful beach with a good book. The Malecon, Il Centro, the marina, Mismaloya, and several other attractions are an easy and inexpensive cab ride away. Even with all that going for Dreams, it is the friendly, accommodating, and hard-working staff who really make the difference. Muchas gracias, amigos - nosotros lo pasamos fenomenal!

Room Tip: The Preferred Tower is lovely, but we have been perfectly happy with a balcony room in the Main Towe...

I visited Dreams PV from Feb 4-11th and without a doubt this was the best vacation my family and I have ever had. Do not believe the negative views! The resort is not huge, which was great because you don't have to walk a km to get to the beach or the pool, it's all steps away. Clean, simple, excellent food (with two picky eaters this was tremendous), and above all the service is 5-star. The staff was always smiles, held doors for you, filled your cups before empty and if you asked for something they would do their best to accommodate within reason of course. We ordered room service 4 nights out of 7 for the kids and it was always as requested, with cutlery, napkins the whole deal. Sometimes twice in one night, and it was always perfect. They tell you up front how long it would take and it was always on time. My kids drink only warm milk, and every time I asked, they would comply with a smile. Water is a bit rough, but the kids loved splashing around near the beach, and there were plenty of kids to play with at the pool. Entertainment was always good, and they had a movie playing on the beach every night for the kids as part of the Explorer's Club. We will definately be back again! Thank you Dreams.

Room Tip: The preferred club is worth the extra money, full balcony with jacuzzi - with sitting area.

It was not only our first time to Dreams Resort but also to Peurto Vallarta. For fifteen yrs we have been travelling to the Mayan but can honestly say we loved it here! The resort is just the right size; food is abolutely fantastic; no rservations required and no bracelets. The "Staff"; there are no words to desctibe how wonderful they "ALL" are. Special thank you to Christian, Ramone, Phillipe; Orlando; Gabriella; Enriequz...and our little sweetie that greeted us at the Buffet everyday....(I am sorry i failed to remember your name but your smille is electric!!). i feel like we have known them all for years and it will be like returning to a family get together when we go back.
The rooms are very comfortable; clean and refreshing. The Maid Service is great! The Concierge fantastic; the grounds and restaurant workers are great and you feel like home.
The lobby bar was a nice way to relax every evening but we did enjoy the nights they had entertainment...it would be nice to see alittle more. The Superbowl party was a great experience.
Loved the downtown area much better than playa Del carment; the little beach bars and restaurants are great with daily drink specials. A nice treat for an afternoon or so.
Thank You for 11 days of heaven!

Room Tip: Take the time to get to know the staff....they are truly wonderful people you will be proud to call...

This is indeed a great resort. We got there after midnight and as soon as we got to our room we ordered room service so that we could grab a bite. The response was so fast that we had hardly opened our bags when there was a knock on our door. A nicely attired person had all of our food and beverages and quickly set everything up for us on a table. Talk about fast and great service. The resort is not big so don't go looking for 7/8 pools but it has enough of everything to keep you satisfied. My wife called it the "no resort". No towel cards,no wrist bands,no reservations. WOW. I like NO. The beach is super clean but beware of the surf. I can be a bit treacherous sometimes and there were a few injuries. Swimmers beware. We did not get bothered by the time shares persons but if you are be firm but polite. No means no. I would really recommend this resort to everybody. From the time you check in to the time you check out you will be well looked after. One last tip. If your return aircraft leaves late on departure day make sure you book an opening for a hospitality suite. It's free and it gives you thirty minutes to take a quick shower so you can enjoy the resort all day and still have the opportunity to shower and change

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best views
