“Ahhhhhhmazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I love, love, love, love this hotel. I've stayed here numerous times over the last 3 years. Each time I go, I can honestly say I have never had anything negative happen while I stay here. The property is gorgeous. The views from all the rooms I've stayed in have been second to none. The restaurants on property are great. When your travels take you to Puerto Vallarta, stay at this hotel.

I never rent a car when I fly in. I always use ground transportation. Call the hotel to get up to date information on reliable ground transportation to and from the airport. You can get into a bad situation if you fly in and use the first solicitor you see to get a ride to the hotel.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at puerto Vallarta, two people really stuck out to us, Edgar Castellanos and jasil Avila. These two guys were very friendly and were very hospitable to our stay at the hilton. The grounds are very clean and the service is top notch as far as we are concerned

My wife and I and some other couples recently took a trip to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta. The hotel was in a great location right on the beach. Downtown was relatively closes and there was even a Wal-Mart down the street. (quick easy trip to get personal items when needed). The staff was very attentive. From the moment we arrived, everything was done to make sure our stay was great. The food was good but the variety could have been a little more. The wait staff waited on our every need. Whether it was drinks, burgers, hot pogs, pizza, or whatever, they took care of us. There was one particular wait staff person who works out by the pool. I believe her name was Sarah. She took really good care of us. She treated us like we were the most important people in the world, like we were her own family. What was so cool was she did everything with a big smile on her face. I actually left feeling I should have tipped her more for the job she did. Great hotel but as for night-life (dancing and so forth), you have to go downtown.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for an upgrade. You never know.

The accomodsations were great, the quality of the food was not great. With the execption of the Sushi bar it was awesome! Has great ppols and beach access. We would consider staying here again because of the staff and the facilities.

Great smaller resort with all the amenities you could need for a relaxing getaway. The all inclusive was great however after 10 days it would have been nice for a little more variety in the buffet and some more standard mexican food (ie tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc.)

My husband and I went here with my brother and sister in law for our anniversaries. The food was delicious and presented nicely. The property was very well maintained and the rooms were cleaned daily. The resort is right on the beach, not a long walk at all. The staff was outstanding and went above and beyond for all situations. The adult rooftop pool and sushi bar, "O-West" had the most outstanding staff, Josephina, the waitress was incredibly friendly and sweet! She ran her tail end off to make sure everyone had what they ordered in a timely manner. Felipe, the bartender, made "pretty drinks" without wasting anytime and they were all very good! Israel, the sushi chef, was amazing, friendly and made the first sushi I have ever tasted, now I am craving it!Elio Flores, the security guard, was also very friendly and took time to share local information and funny stories with us. He would be great at being a pool concierge! Jasiel and Erika, poolside waiters, were wonderful! They remembered our drink orders from day to day! Jesus Rodriguez at the lobby bar was very friendly and could make some amazing drinks as well! The staff at the Hilton in Puerta Vallarta were hands down the best I've seen in a long long time!! They all deserve a raise in my opinion!! Can't wait to book our next trip!

We recently stayed at the PV Hilton. After picking up our luggage and going through the increasingly aggressive and somewhat intimidating time-share gauntlet of bullies (who still badger even if you ignore them), we exited the secure area and got some pesos from one of the ATM machines (34 pesos ATM use fee) behind the first row of taxi ticket booths, bearing right toward the departure area. Since the Hilton is only about a year in operation, its location zone is not listed in many older publications and many taxi drivers did not know where it is (mention Krystal and they know). It is in Zone 1 and the officially-fixed airport taxi price is 195 pesos (80 pesos to return from the Hilton to the airport).

Overall, access to the beach, downtown (60 pesos by taxi), nearby supermarket, marina terminal and many nice nearby shopping/dining areas, is very good and the hotel has very comfortable facilities. There are a few kayaks available and it is also pleasant to walk on the extensive stretch of beach where many other activities (horseback riding, parasailing, etc.) can be purchased from various vendors. While the Hilton name is new here, some buildings such as the main tower block are part of the old Krystal operation which Hilton refurbished.

There are several pools with lounge chairs, umbrellas and a few cabanas. These all tend to be claimed by guests getting up early, putting some belongings on them and returning after breakfast. Others thus have to settle for less-desirable options.

While we were there, guests could eat at the main buffet restaurant (all day and some evenings), and have dinner at the Mexican, French, Brazilian or Italian specialty restaurants, all at no extra charge for all-inclusive guests. The latter two restaurants are at the same location so they rotate days. Not all of the other restaurants are open on a daily basis. There is a pool bar and a main one which serve a rather wide variety of alcoholic and other beverages. Minibars in the rooms are also complementary and restocked daily. An ATM is in the hallway by the lounge and there are several ATMs nearby if guests walk straight out of the hotel a few blocks.

We found all of the food in the various restaurants to be of rather basic, similar quality with similar staff attention but the specialty meals were a little better-presented and served. The staff of the buffet restaurant appear to be more attentive and helpful. The few meals we had outside the hotel were much more authentic, tasty and they were reasonably priced.

Our room was on the eighth floor facing the beach and we had a fantastic view of almost the whole bay. The room size was reasonable for a resort area and it was well-furnished. It connects to the two adjoining rooms via doors with spaces below them so if there is a noisy neighbor, as we had one night, it may not be easy to sleep. There is a constant loud humming which is especially pronounced on the upper floors. A few other quibbles are that the shower stall and toilet were rather small (about 30 inches wide). The door on the shower stall is hung so that it is not easy to reach the controls from outside the available space. The shower head is directly across from the door which has no retaining barrier under it, resulting in large puddles on the floor after showers; rotating the head toward the wall helps a bit.

Maybe because we were there near the end of the busy season, there were many families and weekenders at the hotel, along with some honeymooners and older guests. With only three computers in the open space in front of the bar, many guests seem to use the computers as baby-sitting tools for the kids and because only Hilton Gold and above get complementary wifi and local phone calls and it has no one monitoring computer use or abuse, those who need to do quick check of their emails, flight status, etc., are generally out of luck. Two elevators for eight floors (with one constantly out of service while we were there) added to the list of things management needs to focus on.

With its location, relatively new and refurbished buildings, very nice pools and beach, attentive staff, etc., this hotel has the potential to become an even nicer place to stay for those who just want to relax or those seeking more activities beyond the hotel.
