My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hilton 6/13-6/17. We had been in touch with Mariana Del Toro prior to our trip to request wedding information for our friends. When we arrived, Mariana was kind enough to provide us with a tour of the resort and the various rooms. After the tour, she had a surprise upgrade room for us, a nice Junior Suite with 2 balconies, and a private rooftop with a jacuzzi. The room was amazing. It took us about a day to get over the room. When we went to the beach for a bit and came, there was another nice little surprise of a plate with fruit dipped in chocolate in our room and a personalized welcome card.
The beach was a bit small, but nice. A little rocky in the water, and the water wasn't too clear, but we were there for the sun. The beach vendors do come up to you a lot but they back off pretty quickly with a "no thank you" and move on. We had fresh coconuts cut for us every day to drink and eat out of, for about $4. You could probably barter them down a bit more but we were on vacation. We rode horses on the beach for $55 for 45 minutes, and again I'm sure you could barter him down a bit but it was well worth it. Jet skis were going for $45 for 30 mins, got them down to $40 but they wouldn't budge less than that. Fresh towels were always available, beach chairs and umbrellas were always available, but the nice cabanas and beds were a bit hard to get.
On the first day we had a couples massage at the spa, which included a body scrub. They had a special for $88 per person for the spa and scrub. They provided an opportunity to soak in a hot tub, hot tea, and a steam room as well. The service was top notch, extremely relaxing, and a really good way to start off the vacation.
There's an activity board next to the pool that lists activities throughout the day and night. at 10:30 pm they take a group of people to the nightclubs downtown, and the first night was Mandala. I did a little research on the nightclubs and had heard about this place from friends, so we decided to go with the group. Lulu gathered the people at the lobby bar around 11:30pm. We paid $35 per person which included a cab ride downtown, and all you can drink wristbands. The club was pretty packed, good music, decent crowd, and overall very safe. Cab ride back was on our own, and it only costed $5. In general, trips to and from downtown costs $5.
The concierge, I think Diana, was extremely helpful in making recommendations and setting up reservations for us at Si Senor in downtown PV, the one off of Guadalupe. There's another one that's on the beach in the romantic zone, but we were kind of glad that she recommended the one that's a bit further back because the food was amazing there. You have to get the Garlic Sepia (Calamari), it was the best calamari we had ever had! They also have an activity / excursion tour desk in the lobby where you can book your activities. They had a buy 2 get the 3rd free deal going on, so we did Rhythms of the Night and Marietas Eco Discovery. Unfortunately we didn't have time to book our 3rd trip, as there aren't that many options on Sundays and we were leaving Monday around noon. We could have done the Dolphins Experience Monday morning but didn't want to rush back to the hotel and then to the airport. Rhythms of the night is another must. Great food, show was similar to Cirque du Soleil, funny and entertaining. Marietas Eco Discovery was fun too, good snorkeling, visited the hidden beach and another private beach on an island, and played with a few hermit crabs.
The buffet at the resort actually had the best food. Service at all the restaurants was always amazing. Every day Daniel would look for us and say hello. The staff go out of their way to remember your names and make sure that your stay is a personal experience, with attention to details.
Downtown PV at night was extremely safe. We walked the board walk, checked out a few shops, watched the local entertainment/shows on the boardwalk, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather.
I can't thank Mariana and the rest of the Hilton staff for the wonderful experience we had. This was literally the best vacation we had ever been on, and we will definitely be back. Make sure to tip the staff, and they will treat you like celebrities. Don't forget to leave a tip out for the turn down service as well, our toiletries were always very nicely organized, clothes folded neatly, shoes nicely tucked away, etc. The room was nice and quiet as well, overall at night the resort was pretty quiet. The bed was super comfy, only complaint was that the towels were a bit rough, but everything else was clean.
Coming back to reality was a bit hard, it was even a bit hard to finally take off the wrist bands as they reminded us of how we were pampered like elite guests. WE'LL BE BACK!! See you soon Mariana, thank you so much again.
