Where the heck do i start?? If you want to meet people not go to a boring resort that everyone is cold and unfriendly then this resort is what you are looking for....i was on this site trying to find a resort that my friends and i could go to and have fun..well after looking at some reviews i was sceptical some were absolutely horrible and some were amazing....all in all i'm so glad we stayed there and i will return!!

We were ages 20-30 and the crowd there seemed to age from 19-50.....the older people that expected rose petals thrown at thier feet and waited on hand and foot were not impressed with this resort but what do you expect its a 3 STAR resort....but all in all every staff member there was the nicest and very friendly!! the older care free that wanted to go and have fun fit right in!!

THE ACCOMIDATIONS

well i strongly recommend you upgrade your room to an ocean front it was only 40 dollars more for the week and the size difference was huge from the economy rooms and there's nothing like firing open the doors at night and sleeping to the roar of the ocean!!The rooms were cleaned everyday and the shower was hot i gave the maid 10 dollars at the beginning of our stay and she took care of us!!

The Food

Well the food was survivable this is a 3 star....the breakfast was good as they made nice big omletes with whatever you want in them...the lunch was good as they cook up hamburgers andhotdogs for most of the afternoon and make sure you try the nachos the cheese in unreal!! the dinner kinda sucked i wasn't a big fan of the buffet as it had some wierd stuff on it but hey there's always dominos or kfc or subway just down the street!!

The pool

The Pool was a little chilly but once you got in it was good! it could use i a little painting and upkeep but all in all it was fine...there were 2 pools one big one and one small one with a swim up bar...

The Entertainment/Staff

well here's the best part of the trip at about 9am till 5pm they pump good music at the pool from regatone to hip hop to latin and house and classic rock so they try to appeal to everyone....

Aldo the MC during the day and at night is the bomb i've never laughed so much in my life we are all gonna miss him and hope to go back and see him...

at night at 9;30pm they have little comedy shows at the lobby bar which they get audience participation and play some funnny drinkin and sexy games....

there's a lobby bar at night that they play music and serve till 130am it's more laid back and if you feel like stayin in its good!!

the hotel is sponsered by different night clubs each night so they sell tickets to the clubs at the resort make sure you only go to the "all inclusive" clubs which ran us around 35 dollars and that got u a cab ride there vip entrance and free bar all night...we made the mistake of doin a 10 dollar club one night which only gave us entrance and cab ride it was 9 dollars for 2 beers enough said...

So i hope this was helpful on finding your destination and to sum it up if you want a hotel that is fun as hell and you want to meet people i recommend this place....if you want 5 star food people bowing to you all week and a boring quiet resort with mexican bands playing at your candle lit dinner then don't come here!!

My husband and I stayed for a week at the Getaway in January of this year. We went with friends that had stayed there 5 years ago. A great time was had by all except that it was too short, next time it will be 2 weeks for sure. Where do I begin...first of all I would like to say that I read a lot of the other reviews and my stay there was nothing compared to theirs. Why do people complain so much??? I would suggest that if you want to be treated like the king and queen then don't be so cheap and dish out the big bucks - go to a five star and maybe then they would have something to complain about. The food was GOOD! The fruit and veggies were always fresh. I couldn't get enough of the fruit. I am a breakfast person so I looked forward to the omlettes every morning, they were mouthwatering. The drinks were always available without a huge lineup. The staff were very friendly and always there to serve or help you. The beach was beautiful, every second day it was cleaned and racked. If you walked further down, the beach was full of rocks. Not once did we see garbage laying around. The grounds were nicely kept, every morning the plants were watered, the pools were cleaned. Our room was always cleaned. Yeah the bed was hard but you're not there to stay in bed all day. Every night there was entertainment in the lobby. The view from our balcony was absolutely beautiful. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. It could do with some updating but it works for the money. So I say people...... stop complaining and enjoy the sunshine or stay in the cold and shut up.

This hotel is a great place to go if you are a young university student who doesn't care about anyone else except yourself and the person your attempting to mate with. We made the mistake of going to Mexico during reading week for some Canadian universities, so everynight was a party till 3 or 4 in the morning. Loud music, loud voices, doors being slammed and screams from girls who had been caught in the sex act by their sexual partner's roomate walking in on them, are some of the problems we faced.
The hotel though is exactly what you'd expect a 3 star property to be. The rooms were basic but clean. The pools were nice with plenty of sun beds. There was ample alcohol and you didn't have to line up very long, if at all, to get it. The food wasn't very good, but palatable none the less. The staff for the most part were helpful and friendly. The sand on the beach is a bit coarse and I don't think the beach is cleaned regularly but on the whole the beach is nice, and a great place to watch the sunset from. The best part about the hotel is it's close proximity to the centre of Peurto Vallarta, about a 5 minute bus ride or 15 minute walk.
I would never stay at this hotel again, I'll fork out a little more next time and stay at a more family oriented place which I hope students shy away from. But if you're young and like a good time with your friends then the Getaway Club is the place for you.

Okay when we booked this hotel we did not know that it was an adult only hotel, so that was the first down. However, no one was nude on our trip which we were very thankful for. My boyfriend and I take a trip to Mexico every year and usually stay in 3 star hotels. The getaway had the worst food either of us experienced (and I lived on dorm food for two years in university). The elevator was very questionable and made odd noises all night, we were often disturbed from our sleep by either the elevator or kids coming back from the clubs at all hours of the morning; this happened at least once every night! The beds were exceptionally hard, to the extent that we got up with soar backs everymorning. Many morninings there was throwup by the pool. The rooms were modest and the hotel its self was very loud. The staff were okay and breakfast was good. There is a large gap of time between lunch and super when there is no food available. One thing I will say about the Getaway is that it has a great location. We were able to walk to every meeting point for our various tours. But that is all this hotel has going for it. I would not recomend this hotel to anyone. It seems that it has become a party place for teenagers to make fools of themselves by parting, being very loud, and getting sick.

I just returned from a week stay at the getaway, and I had an absolute blast. Before I left, I thoroughly read many of the reviews on this site, and I noticed it was very up and down, and I noted some of the main complaints that some people had.

First and for most, the resort is catered towards the party crowd. It doesn't matter if your 80 or 18, if you want to come to vallarta to party, the getaway is THE place.

But I will start to explain some of the resort ups and downs

The food was alright, nothing special. A la carte was amazing, but only open two nights a week. Most people seem to find something they like at the buffet, if your not a picky eater you shouldn't have a problem. I read some of the reviews that said that their are worms in the food and flys around the buffet area. Let me say that is COMPLETELY false. The buffet and eating areas are well kept and clean. Breakfast was great, you can have pancakes, omelletes or toast, made right in front of you.

The staff were extremely hard working and very nice. These people don't make a lot of money, so a small tip goes a long way. I read some reviews about the staff not caring, and I found that also to be completely false. The activities staff are amazing, and they try very hard to please the guests. I can't say enough how hard these people work, and for little or no tips. The maids did a great job with the rooms during the day.

The grounds were very well kept and maintained. The pools are cleaned every day, and the landscape watered and cut and such.

During my stay, only the main tower was open, and the other part was closed for renovations. The main tower could use a facelift... the elevators were just fine.

The room was clean, and the beds were firm. I read a couple reviews of some guests complaining about the lack of a TV remote in the room. You can get one at the front desk, but are you serious? Your in Mexico, why the hell are you watching TV?

The beach was a bit rocky, but its like that everywhere on hotel strip in vallarta. This isn't cancun, its the west side of mexico, the sand and water is more rough.

Some fun things to do: Foam party at the collage was a amazing time, vallarta outdoor adventures, various booze cruises, ATV tour and the canopy tour.

I met lots of people, and I had a great time at the getaway. Your vacation is what you make of it. I would recommend this resort to my friends in a heartbeat.
