Villas Loma Linda was our base for a week of local explorations in PV and beach villages, north and south, during an unusually quiet week in Vallarta, due to a flu scare. Our bright and charming front-desk hosts Juan and Jose, quickly became our go-to guys for advice on restaurants, driving directions, local phone calls in Spanish, and general good cheer and enthuastic post-adventure tale telling. We found our 1500' ft condo, Unit C-4, had plenty of privacy for two couples, with thoughtful amenities including ceiling fans, colorful local art and wall decor, an unending supply of bottled water for our safe drinking, a spacious deck with our personal jacuzzi, umbrella-shaded table with a 180' sweeping view of gorgeous Banderas Bay, and a convenient built-in gas BBQ. The large pool was impeccably clean with plenty of chaise lounges and umbrellas. We loved being able to walk or taxi to Zona Romantic, heart of restaurant row and art galleries. Strolling along the Malecon after dinner and through the square in front of the Cathedral made us feel part of the local scene, with local families out to enjoy the cool evening breezes. Highlights: happening upon a rehearsal of high-school age flamenco dancers on the Cathedral square; seeing the iguana tree in Sayulita, an hour north of Vallarta, and visiting Las Animas and Yelapa, accessed by water taxi from Boca de Tomatlan, just south of Vallarta. Each village worth the day trip where we enjoyed snorkeling in the warm water and eating "three-minute fresh" seafood lunches! We'd do it all over again - lovely people, beautiful scenery, gentle breezes, in a town with a big heart.
