“Good points and bad, welcome to Mexico”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This place is a gem! The rooms are great with all rooms ocean facing. There is daily maid service although the floors were not mopped during the week we stayed so by the end of the week the bottoms of our feet were black just from walking barefoot in the room, wifi for a fee and an in room safe.

Be aware that due to new laws in Mexico to fight money laundering you are no longer able to exchange dollars at the hotel you will have to do that at the bank and you will need your passport.

We had two massages while there and chose to go to the massage room, mistake. The room is very small and you can hear people booking tours or just chatting in the lobby area. They do offer in room service and I would suggest it.

The beach is nice and kept clean and the vendors are for the most part respectful after you turn them down.

The biggest disappointment was the food in the restaurant. I was simply awful except for breakfast. We also were told there was room-service everyday but were told three days that we could not have it. The staff is a bit inattentive and you may have to wait some time for your bill and drink refills even after asking for it. Don't let the food stop you from staying at this wonderful, small place just plan ahead to either eat somewhere else or go to the store and cook yourself. There are some amazing restaurants in PV.

Room Tip: Try and get a room higher up to be able to view the animals playing in the ocean.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about both the good points and the bad at Lindo Mar. We are with the positives; obviously, not so much with the negatives. Housekeepers are supposed to mop the floors every day so we’ll try to determine why yours were not. As for the restaurant, we recognize that judgments are subjective and dependent on personal taste – also the occasional bad day – but we will definitely follow up on your comments. FYI: In Mexico, the wait staff will not bring you the check until you request it; it’s considered rude to deliver it without being asked. Please try us again soon.

This place feels like family & home the minute you check in. Friendly staff and oceanfront. Love hearing the waves crashing on the rocks. An onsite beach restaurant with good food and buffets on the weekends and two (2) happy hours each day! Pool and hot tub and great beach in front with easy access. You could stay here the entire time and not haveto leave. WiFi is available for a fee and we received a few English TV channels with good reception. There is another restaurant next door and food was also great with another good view. Within a short walking distance is a small convenience store. Also a close & convenient bus stop if you want to head into town or other direction out to Mismaloya. We've stayed here twice and we'll be returning again. Love the way it's decorated and there is an elevator. We had daily maid service except Sunday.

Good location cliffside, 2.5 k south of PV town proper, lots of bus service if you don't have a car. Every room has a great view of the ocean and pool. Interiors are Mexican-style tile, furnishings, and decor, not modern chrome and glass like the places in Nuevo Vallarta, but they are comfy, everything works, and bedrooms have AC. Rooms are kept spotlessly clean. The pool is beautiful but a bit small, with lounging space sparse and close together. Nice jacuzzi. Large beach towels are provided for guests. Their little beach area is pleasant, sandy, with lounge chairs and shade palapas to sit under. You can rent snorkel gear and kayaks from the hotel. Beach vendors are not many or bothersome. Entry into the water is sandy but is lined with rocks that have sea urchins on them--do not swim or snorkel near them or let the waves toss you into them or step on them! The water itself is beautiful and clear. In the area are lots of tide pools and pelicans.

I can't say the restaurant was very good. Expensive (for Mexico, though average for PV) with a lot of commercial food-service offerings. A decent chef salad was marred by thin "bleu cheese" dressing made from powdered mix; a burger was decent but the french fries had sat under the heat lamp way too long to be suitable for serving--considering we were among the only customers at that time, fresh ones should have been made for us. Proximity is its most desirable feature. WARNING: There are two "happy hours" per day, with 2-for-1 drinks. We all were taken aback at the strength of the margaritas; they made us all uncomfortably high, and one of us actually lost her lunch after two. I have encountered this before in Mexican beach resorts and it is said to be the mark of a margarita NOT made strictly with tequila but with grain alcohol. I can't say for sure whether this is what is used here, but just be careful and aware: you will not be able drive after one of these, let alone two, and that is not normal.

Although I can't recommend the restaurant food or the margaritas, overall I recommend the rooms, the staff, the location, and the amenities.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean and pool views.

We recently stayed at the is resort. We have been owners of a week since the mid 80's. The staff is excellent! helpful, friendly, the best. From the front desk to the beach and towel manager. But the rooms need a good cleaning, the floor tiles in bathroom of our unit, very dirty. bulbs burned out, bathtube faucet broken. And the beautiful of water and beach and the waves... gone!! Instead are ugly skinny palm trees that look like any moment they wil break and crash to the pool deck! There is no shade at the the pool or around the pool area. They need a couple umbrellas and the trees gone! other than that is is a cute place! the restaurant is fantastic! right on the water with great food and service!

This place is charming. We just spent a week at this great little resort located south of Puerto Vallarta. It feels Mexican and has excellent Mexican service. The restaurant is located right on their pocket beach and is quite good. Our only problem was that the margaritas were too strong.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the beach are fun to be in.

We just returned from two weeks at this lovely little resort tucked away on the beach in the Conchas Chinas area of Puerto Vallarta. If you are looking for marble, glass, chrome, activites, clubs...this is not your place. If you are looking for Mexican charm in a charming boutique hotel where every room is ocean front view then you have found a home. Lindo Mar has a wonderful staff including their concierge, Maria Elena, who will assist you with anything you need. The restaurant, La Playita, is located beach front and features resonably priced Mexican standards as well as some unexpected culinary treats. The restaurant is open to the public and I would totally recommend it for drinks and dinner at sunset. Saturdays and Sundays brunch is their well known Mexican buffet. Just tell your cab driver you want to go to Lindo Mar!

Room Tip: All the rooms are ocean front.

Just returned from a week at the wonderful Lindo Mar Resort. Stayed there for the first time last year. We have stayed elsewhere in Vallarta previously (always south of town), but having discovered Lindo Mar, there is no reason to go anywhere else! It is an older property and doesn't have a lot of fancy bells and whistles, and we are glad of that. It is very clean and well run, the open-air restaurant situated directly above the beach offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, good food at reasonable prices with attentive service and amazing views. The bar rings a cowbell twice a day (at noon and again at 5PM) to signal two-for-one Happy Hour (Hora Feliz) and it definitely gets everyone's attention. They will even do drink service down at the beach or by the pool. The beach is small and all but disappears at high tide, but it is a lovely spot with several small coves for swimming, and nice shady palapas under which to lounge/read/nap. These are popular and do go quickly on a first come basis. The towel attendant is happy to assist with the lounge chairs and appreciates a nominal gratuity for his service. The beach has just a few vendors that come by. They offer some nice things and are respectful if you are not interested. One fisherman in a kayak beaches in front of the resort most afternoons and is willing to sell his catch (including lobsters) right off the boat. His arrival always attracts a lot of pelicans looking for a hand out. Fun to watch. There is also a small pool as well as an infinity hot tub, both overlooking the stunning view of the whole of Banderas Bay. The location in Conchas Chinas is perfect. Close enough to town for a short bus or taxi ride, but far enough removed that one can avoid the hustle-bustle. The units are quite comfortable and spacious, with colorful and charming Mexican-style decor. Each has an ocean view balcony (except those on the first floor, but they also have an outside space, albeit next to the pool). A dated but decent kitchen with gas stove/oven, fridge, enough cooking implements, dish towels, as well as a blender, coffee maker (with filters provided), paper towels and powdered dish soap (we bring some liquid). The units are air conditioned with a separate control in the bedroom(s), and have ceiling fans as well. There is a small TV, but we don't bother to turn it on. Why would you with the great view! The beds are quite firm, which we like, but the pillows are rather rock-like, so we bring our own. The bathrooms feature tiled tub/shower combos and have plenty of shelf space for toiletries. Towels are basic but plentiful and refreshed daily. The units are cleaned every day by the unobtrusive but friendly maid staff. We love everything about this resort, but the very best thing about it is the wonderful staff. They are all genuinely friendly, helpful and eager to please. Maria Elena at the concierge desk is a real gem! This resort seems to have a lot of return owners/visitors and most are a more mature crowd. Maybe in the summer months there would be families with kids, but not when we were there in early December. It is also probably not the place for someone looking for a flashy place with lots of partying, which I think is a good thing. It is instead, the perfect destination if you are looking for a place with a genuine Mexican feeling, gracious staff, beautiful views and a quiet place to relax and enjoy.
