“The WHALE EXPERTS in PV!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

It's always a bit overwhelming upon arrival to choose vacation activities. For us, it's easy in PV since we discovered this great tour company! Vallarta Adventures offer many tours. They are professionals and very safety conscious. On each of our (4) Humpback Whale Watching trips, our tour guides have been well educated in Marine Biology. We have seen whales in February every trip! Yesterday we saw moms and juveniles, being "escorted" by large males. A real thrill was seeing a baby whale breach and the dolphins put on a great show. Rays and turtles are sometimes visible as well. Remember sunscreen and a WINDBREAKER or sweatshirt. It is chilly heading out and returning. If you're prone to motion sickness just take a Dramamine. The boat does bounce a bit but I've never actually seen anyone become ill. The boats have bench type seating. For those with back problems there are 2 seats with back support-ask to sit there. There is a photographer on board, and we actually bought the video on one particular trip with lots of whale activity. Well worth the money, as they get shots I never could. I'm always happy to tip the guides and driver. Its clear they love the whales and dolphins and are enthusiastic in sharing their knowledge Many are locals and know the waters so well. They are very respectful of the whales and dolphins. With Vallarta Adventures, I think you have the best chance of spotting whales. It's an amazing tour!

“Whale Following and Watching”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

February is supposed to be the prime time for spotting the humpback whale out of Puerto Vallarta. So at 8 AM sharp we showed up at the marina, paid the $2 gate fee and waited around with about 20 other people for the large inflatable boat to show up. The boat ride out into Banderas Bay was "grab on" bumpy and jarring- common for this type of boat. It took about an hour before the operator throttled back and started looking for whales. We saw a few- perhaps a dozen from various distances. A second Vallarta Adventure inflatable boat full of tourists soon joined us in the game of searching the waters. At one time I counted seven boats- some obviousely private following after one whale. Frankly, it seemed rather excessive to me.
I would not suggest this sort of boating experience for the elderly or young children. There is no bathroom facility available. None. And you are out there for at least three or four hours. The ride can be rather rough depending on the wind and waves. Anti sea sick medication might be in order for those with queezy stomachs.

“Vallarta-Adventures Whale Watching tour??”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

I took the whale watching tour on Feb 17. I t pretty much was nothing more that a wild goose chase around the bay in pursuit of whales. Did get to see a couple dorsal fins. The tour was so bad the crew and tour guide didn't even make the "normal" solicitation for tips.I really got the impression the crew was clueless as to where the whales might be found. "other than somewhere in the bay" . Represented nothing but a bad experience which I won't be repeating.

“Thanx to Nicky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

The whales were great, the sun was warm but the real applause has to go to Nicky and her crewmates! We were fortunate to take a tour with Nicky two years and didn't go last year because we thought it would be a letdown! So this year when we found that once again Nicky was our guide, it was GREAT.
We saw the antics of these huge creatures playing as though they were just the kids next door frolicking on a warm summer day. But we learned a lot about them as well.
We also like the fact that Vallarta Adventures respects these great animals and allows them their own space.
Just another amazing tour.

“Whales and Dolphins Galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

We took the Vallarta Adventure's Eco Whale tour. This tour is a must. It definitely delivered on whale and dolphin viewing. We took a catamaran to Las Marietas Islands and on the way we searched for whales. Each time we spotted a pod, of whales or a group of dolphins the boat captain slowed down and cut the motor. We were able to see these wonderful creartures in several different locations. Each time the boat photographer took pictures. Given the fact that he had a much better camera for long distance than we did, this was a great benifit. After seeing the whales & dolphins, we went on to Las Marietas Islands where we snorkeled. The breakfast buffet in the morning, lunch on the boat and all those drinks were sooooo good!
