“Paradise in PV”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

This is our second stay at the Quinta Maria. Our previous stay was 10 years ago. In between we stayed at many boutique hotels and high end condos in and around PV. Quinta Maria is the best of the bunch. The service and the friendliness of the staff are the best we have experienced. I can't say enough positive things about the Qunita Maria. The breakfasts are worth the price of admission.

There are many very cool places to stay in PV. What differentiates Quinta Maria is the location. It is perfect. Right on the beach. You can smell and hear the ocean, watch the dolphins jump out of the water, and watch the pelicans float by in formation. Yet the beach is secluded and private. You can walk along the beach into town in about 30 minutes.

HOW TO GET TO TOWN ON ROAD:
Rather than walk on the beach we like to walk on the road. You don't have to walk on the highway. Leaving Quinta Maria go left down Sagitario, when you get to the end stay left and walk along the beach walkway for about 200 yards, then right go up the steep road. This takes you straight onto Amapas Street in the town.

We stayed in the Maxi suite. It is easily roomy enough for 2 couples, and the views are amazing . We will definitely be back.

PS: All of the suites have a sound system and a mini-RCA jack that you can plug into your iPhone to listen to your favourite music. We didn't realize this until we had been there for a few days.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Maxi suite. It is easily roomy enough for 2 couples, and the views are amazing .

Quinta Maria is the perfect getaway while being within a short bus ride to downtown. Better yet, you can navigate the sides streets and walk or best of all stroll along the beach (with a few rocky spots) to the most popular town beaches. While in your villa suite, you are completely at peace and quiet except for the mesmerizing sound of the surf - steps from your suite's veranda. Breakfast is included and is excellent or your can stroll south to one of the best Mexican restaurants in Vallarta, Playita, which sits on the beach. The entire staff, led by the most professional and helpful general manager are all kind and efficient. This is the only place I will ever stay the next times I'm in Vallarta.

Room Tip: There is no better fitness center than our twice daily walks to either the beach in the morning or d...

We have been taking winter vacations in Puerta Vallarta since 1990. Years ago, we would walk by this place and stop to admire the crazy rustic elegant house. Finally we found it had become a bed and breakfast. We have stayed at QMC 4 times since 2005. The exotic location on Conchas Chinas is spectacular. The walk into town along the beach is beautiful. The vibe at QMC eccentric and artistic like no other place. The staff is charming and helpful. Thank you Jose, Roberto and all. Each of the suites is unique so you can have different experiences on each stay. Their breakfast is outstanding and they have always delivered interesting conversations and new friendships with other guests. We are already planning our next visit. See you there!

Room Tip: There are lots of stairs. All of the views are wonderful.

Pros: the staff is wonderful, the views are beautiful and the building very unique . Breakfast is fantastic
Staying at QMC was one of the most unique experiences we have ever had. Open air rooms,
Lots of stairs to climb, not a problem for us. We did have some geckos and giant moths come in at night but they never bothered us.
The wifi connection was good

Cons: there is no breakfast on Sunday which is contrary to the concept of being a B&B. you are a fair distance from town. There is a beachside restaurant that is also a healthy walk away.
As a couple we work out almost daily and are very physically fit so with that in mind you should be aware of the challenges of walking to town. You have to negotiate the waves, slippery wet steps and rocks before you get to the southern most part of the PV beach. We did this daily and usually took a cab back to QMC. Cabs were only 5 or 6 dollars one way.
There are no tv's so if it rains, you are out of luck

We really loved this place. The service was great--it's clean, great breakfast, beds, towels, great wifi--even up on the top floor. They make you feel at home. We were able to see every room during our stay--and they each have their charm. "Jessica" is the only room I wouldn't recommend.

There are lots of steps -- inside & outside of the rooms. The Maximilano has 2 steps down from the door, then 2 steps up to the bed platform, and a step up into the bathroom. The Maria has steps up to the bath and toilet. The roof is a large patio with separate seating areas. Great to watch the sunsets.

The beds were wonderful--nice mattress, nice sheets, nice pillows. Big towels. Separate beach towels. Towels are refreshed frequently. Room has an iron and hair dryer. Maxi had a small fridge, coffee maker, sink, utensils, dishes, micro, and toaster oven. No stove. Didn't seen any pots/pans. Some rooms have stoves. Our room had some coffee filters and coffee.

Staff was amazing. All of them. Breakfasts quite good -- typically eggs of different types, some bacon, juice. Nicely done. Talked to a lot of people at the big table--one of the things I love about B&Bs.

The Oxxo up on the main road is medium sized, but doesn't have all you will want. Cabs run about 65 pesos to downtown. Very easy to get. They have a button on the phone programmed. Press it, they answer, ask you where you are (Quinta Maria) and how many people. Always "5 minutes". Usually is.

Beach is small, relatively quiet. Very few of the vendors. They have lounges, chairs and umbrellas.
I think they have 24hr security--the guards were very helpful and friendly--they get to know you, watch out for you.

Views are amazing. Really, really nice place.

Room Tip: about 134 stairs from beach to top room--Maximiliano. Steps get narrower as you go up. Consider th...

My wife and I have stayed at a number of b&bs throughout the world and the QMC is high on our list. The QMC is in a great location that is just a stones throw from town. We rented a car but that was unnecessary bc it was very easy and cheap to get cabs to and from the city. The QMC had a great staff working there and the breakfast was incredible. This place is not the Fpur Seasons but if you are looking for a place that feels like home, with a great history than the QMC is for you.

Just got back from our second stay in this beautiful location. Stayed in Alejandro and Maria for a night. I can't say enough about how amazing this spot is. We walked into town along the beach everyday (15 min walk), listened to the waves crashing on the shore and enjoyed the ambiance and warmth. The breakfast is delicious; their eggs Benedict are a favorite for me, French toast a favorite for my husband. The staff is very attentive. Roberto always has a smile and good conversation; Always making sure the guests are cared for. Thank you Quinta for another amazing vacation.
