“Friendly and a nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

We stayed for our vacation in Holiday Inn, Puerto Vallarta for a week and opted for all-inclusive. The best part of the resort are people are really nice, friendly and caring. The pool and high rise view from our bedroom was simply awesome. The Mexican show was really amazing and fun. The food had a good variety and its among the best place for a family vacation. Thanks to the staff their who cared, maintained the cleanliness and made it a fun place to stay. This is a peaceful and a safe place to visit.

An awesome resort that makes you feel like you are in paridise. The grounds are amazing! All the staff are extremely friendly and always ready to help. I would especially like to thank two staff members for their excellence in service. First is Edgar Eduardo Bobadilla Davila who works for the Department of Security. My son cut his foot in the pool and Eduardo administered first aid in such a calm and caring matter. Since I am a paramedic, I understood the attention Eduardo payed to the injury. Thanks for a great job! The other staff member I would especially like to thank is Pedro Nunez from the front desk. One of my children's personal blanket was mistakenly taken with the changing of the sheets. We noticed it was missing and Pedro tracked it down the next day from the laundry room. He saved the day too! Pedro helped us many a time at the front desk and always had a welcoming smile ready to help. I would definitely come back to the Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta.

This resorts has weddings often on the beach and receptions after. The music is usually nice wedding music, but after 11:00 p.m. they crank up the volume and it is not music you can sleep to. During the afternoon, they play pool music and the volume is very loud also. Don't stay at this hotel if you want to read at the pool or sleep at night. Many phone calls to the hotel manager were ignored.

There were 6 couples that purchased the all-inclusive option at the Holiday Inn 11/23/12 thru 12/14/12, 22 days.
Good points - Location was great
- Beds were very comfortable
-Staff was great, including Mario, Luis, Francesco, Alverdo,Freddie, Sugar Ray
-Great pool, but not heated and by 12/7/12 the ocean was warmer than the pool, management would not heat the pool after many requests
Bad Points -
-all inclusive option did not include guacamole or french fries. no guacamole in mexico at an all inclusive, unheard of. Also, you could only eat in the buffet and were not allowed to order from the menu even though we talked to other all inclusive guests and they were able to. Many inconsistencies everyday on what you could get and what you couldn't get. All inclusive guests could not order any food at the pool unless they paid extra for it. What's up with this?
-Buffet was terrible-same meats served everyday with different sauces. Not much selection. Horrible food. My husband and I got violently ill from the food and had to go to the hotel doctor which was expensive.
Stayed at neighboring hotels with all inclusive and they were much better. Were able to order from menu and food was a lot better.
-Even though we all paid for the all inclusive we ended up going out to eat because the food was so terrible.
Unfortunately due to these bad experiences at the Holiday Inn our group will never return. we spent a lot of money at this hotel.

Management really doesnt cater to their paying guests at all.I guess we prepaid and once they have your money, they could care less about you.

Room Tip: rooms ending in a 29 or 30 (i.e. 929, 930) have the best views with two balconies.

The hotel was a nice place. Really keep clean and the rooms were nice with a partcal ocean view Also the rooms were always clean . The pool was really great with a swim up bar. Some days the pool water was a little cold but for the most part it was great..You couldn*t ask for a better staff from the maids to the bar tenders to the activity staff all great. the food at night was a little disapointing. Thats where they need to inprove. We went out several nights to some really good places but at the hotel it was just average at best. Over all we had a great time and would go back

Room Tip: the rooms in the upper levels were the best 8th and 9th floors

We visited Holiday Inn, Puerto Vallarta from Nov 23- Dec 7, 2012. The entertainment crew, Lety, Freddy, Pako, and Ray were amazing. Always a great time on the beach and the stage shows were always amazing. Excellent time and we would recommend this resort to anyone!

Miss you guys already!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in Puerto Vallarta Nov 17-24th, 2012 all-inclusive. Weather was fantastic with hot 30-35C temps (almost 40C including the humidity) and 20-25C at night. Our room was nice with 2 double beds on the 8th floor. Request a room with an odd number and that will put you with an ocean/pool view. The even #’d rooms face giant buildings next door and would only have partial ocean views. Rooms are equipped with a digital safe and fridge. The buffet food was average at best and we hoped to get by on the fresh food stations, but there was only an omelet station in the mornings & burger/hotdogs station at lunch. We took full advantage of the a la carte dinners that rotate Italian & Mexican. The food & service quality is exceptional and cost is only tipping. We tipped 15-20% of the meal price off the menu (150-200 pesos = $12-16) each night. My family thoroughly enjoyed the a la carte experience so we were grateful for the fine food and service. The a la carte dinners need to be booked the day before at the concierge from 10am-2pm. We made sure to get down to the pool area early each day and secured our selected chairs & umbrella along the sea wall near the beach volleyball court. This was the perfect vantage point 5 feet above the beach where we could observe vendors, volleyball, and ocean activities. Beach is absolutely huge! Next time we go to Mexico I will investigate their holidays as Tues Nov 20th was Revolution Day long weekend. Puerto Vallarta (and Holiday Inn Resort) was packed with a youth soccer tournament that filled the hotel and pool to the gills! The soccer tournament ended on Sunday/Monday and the resort cleared out to almost no body. We watched the Revolution Day parade on the downtown Malacon from the 'Cheeky Monkey' restaurant balcony. This restaurant is a must stop for $1 Margaritas & $1 bottled Coronas as well as loaded nachos and Brooklyn meat pizza. We had 11 drinks, 2 juices for kids, nachos & pizza for 342 pesos ($28). Cab ride to downtown is only 50 pesos (bus is 32 pesos for 4 people) one way. Wal-Mart/Sam's Club & Galleries of Vallarta Mall is a 40 peso one-way taxi ride. Resort pool is huge with swim up bar and scheduled activities throughout day & night (Freddie & Sugar Ray). Resort is very clean inside and out and close proximity to airport and downtown. We only went out on one tour….. the Pirate Ship Cruise that includes breakfast, pirate show, snorkeling, banana boat rides and beach excursion. Our 11 & 9 year old loved it as did we. Try to work a deal for the tour as we got ours from our tour operator for a discount and both children free (this could have been due to low season as well). We would I recommend this resort to others for value and quality.

Room Tip: Ask for an odd numbered room (i.e. 515) that will give you an ocean/pool view that looks towards dow...
