“Great hotel, great location, great staff for all kinds of travelers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I would have given them a 5 if they had fun things to use on the beach like kayaks, boogie boards, a heated hot tub, etc. They had styrofoam noodles for the pool and that was about it. But i give it a 4/5 for everything else (except the surly waitress at the bar near the end of the lobby). My friends looked on tripadvisor for a great deal. I wanted something on the beach and comfortable, not too big with a pool and some dining options. A reviewer on TA suggested going the club level for the easy continental breakfast and evening drinks. I would also recommend that if you get a good deal. It's nice to walk out of your room on the top level of the hotel and grab some coffee and food. It's also great to stroll in around 5p after being at the beach all day and have a nice cold beer and snacks waiting for you. David took really great care of us making sure we had plenty to eat and drink. Our room was on the top level, 9th floor and I actually saw whales from the balcony!!! We opted for the non-inclusive and that is the way to go. You can eat there if you like or go into town. The food at ChulaVista is pretty damn good and the other bars are well staffed so if you are sitting by the beach, you don't have to leave to get a frosty pina coloda or a cold beer and food. It's right on Banderos beach and has a great little swimming area right in front or you can go over to the next hotel and rent kayaks, banana boats, jet ski or parasail. The other thing i really liked about this place was the mix of tourists - not just the boring people who do the all inclusive and never leave. There's a good mix of Mexicans, Europeans and American tourists. If your biological clock is ticking be warned: there are a lot of adorable little kids there and well-behaved i even and in matching little outfits! It will just make you want to have kids!! I can't think of much else to add...great staff, friendly people, nice beach, good food. Go solo or with friends, there are all types of travelers hanging out. And buy something from the vendors that stroll up and down the beach. They are very nice and sell some gorgeous stuff. We got some great jewelry, hats, tableclothes and the camerones on a stick -delicious!!!

Room Tip: If you eat breakfast at ChulaVista know that the serving size is way too large. :) We stayed in the...

I traveled over new years and the Fiesta Americana was good but not great. My family and I had two rooms. Only one was ready when we checked in so we all went up and dropped our luggage off in that room. About 1 hour later the other room was ready. The second room however was directly across from the elevators and 9 rooms down from the other room. We requested to be switched to another room and although they had previously told us that the hotel was full, found us another room 4 doors down from the other room.
Our neighbors were quite noisy and would blast the TV late at night and would take long showers in the morning (all of which you could hear in our room).
We went to the hotels New Years Eve party and had a blast. It was a little pricy but well worth it. Our tablemates were wonderful and together we all had fun. I'm not sure what the other guests would say about the party if they had not been there because it was loud and went until 2:30am, even though the hotel had said it ended at 1am. It took place outside on the pool deck with a live band and a DJ during their breaks. The staff were wonderful and left the open bottles of wine on our table as the night wound down and people began to leave. We then went next door to Friendlys and kept on partying until they kicked us out.
The beach is nice and the sand is much softer at the Fiesta Americana than at other hotels, but swimming in the ocean was not possible. There cabanas and chairs but to get one you had to go down around 8-8:30am in order to stake one out. (There are signs around that say no reserving chairs/ cabanas but no one follows that). The pool has a nice kids area that is shallow but also gets deep near the bar. There is loud music playing during the afternoon on the pool deck, and there is bingo everyday.
Our room was very clean and the maid was making creatures or other designs out of the linens. The bathroom was fairly large but had no fan so when showering the whole bathroom would turn into a sauna-- so we started to leave the bathroom door open when showering. Our belcony overlooked the pool and ocean with the mountains in the back.
It seemed that everytime we needed a taxi so did everyone else. We would end up being the last people in line and would have to wait anywhere from 5 mintues to 15 for a cab to come and pick us up. We were a group of five but gave up on trying to get a big cab so we all squeezed into a 4 person cab.
I got a massage on the beach at sunset which was very nice, and the price was great! So if you are coming from the states I definitely recommend it.
One last thing: they don't allow any outside food into the hotel. According to the hotel it is for your own safety, because all of the food they serve is imported, purified etc. To me it seems like they want you spending all of your money there and no where else. This didn't stop us from going to the grocery store down the street and bringing back our breakfast in a big tote bag.

All in all the hotel was nice, but it just wasn't amazing. The music was louder somewhere else, the food was just a little bit better somewhere else, the pool was bigger somewhere else. You get the idea.

Room Tip: They all have good views of the ocean, but stay away from the elevators

Have been with other couples and with other families and visit was great both times. Nice rooms, friendly staff, great food. We had trouble with the ac in our first room and they were quick to make things right. Mariza, who is a staff member around the pool, was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly and worked so hard every day. She even switched her day off so she could see our group one more time. David, who working on the ninth floor, was wonderful as well. We will definitely return. Thank you to all your staff who made our week so perfect.

This delightful hotel has a great pool, wonderful beach and a staff that attends to your every need. My family has been staying here for a very long time and it keeps getting better every year. All the rooms have ocean and pool view balconies but indulge in the 9th floor Fiesta Club upgrade for an extra spoil and you won’t regret it.

The rooms are immaculately clean with good quality beds, linens and lots of pillows. The air conditioner is very quiet and kept the room cold enough to satisfy my wife. The internet service is intermittent but I saw them putting antennas in the pool area during our stay, so hopefully it will get better.

Breakfast is a feast with everything imaginable to prepare for a busy day. The pool is really large and the water is kept warm so it’s lots of fun to enjoy. The beach has been expanded with soft, clean sand and there are plenty of chairs and palapas for sun or shade. The mid-day snack food is really good with a nice beach café to help escape from the afternoon sun.

When it’s time to head out for dinner the hotel is conveniently located between downtown and the marina for a short cab ride in either direction.

However, the thing that makes this hotel such a gem is the amazing staff throughout the hotel!

Every one of the staff is engaging and truly focused on assuring that you are enjoying your vacation. These people really care and it shows in everything they do to take care of you.

Another thing you will notice is that the management pays attention to the details. You will see the hotel leaders and supervisors actively engaged in helping guests to assure everything goes smoothly. This level of attention is refreshing and it makes sure your visit is perfect.

After our 11 day stay there are many people to thank for a fantastic time. You will get to know these people during your visit.

There is a huge staff who helped provide us a delightful vacation however special thanks go to Hector, Sebastian, Jorge, Rafael and Vanessi who helped with dinner reservations, transportation, answers and many other requests. Rosalio, Chef Jorge, Mavi, Carlos, Carlos and David assured we were well fed and never thirsty throughout the day. Special mention goes to Martin for assuring that great food is provided by a team of servers who deliver it to guests with perfection at the pool and in the restaurants.

I miss their hospitality already and can’t wait to return next year…

We decided to use this hotel based solely on other reviews on Tripadvisor and it was definitely the right decision. Without going into a million details, the service here is excellent, from the time you meet the first clerk with her giant smile to the guys who bring your drinks on the beach; everyone has a great attitude and makes you feel really welcome.

Food at the restaurant (and honestly we only ate breakfast) was really good, not great, but good. Drink service on the beach and around the pool was spectacular and you never had to wait. The pool manager even sought us out to welcome us the second time we came down.

If I had to come up with anything negative, it was the internet service, which is really bad and expensive. Also they leave you one packet of coffee and the second one has a price tag on it of 25 pesos. Also, they do not allow outside beer to be brought in, so hide it in a bag first.

Great stay overall and I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get an Ocean View room, the higher up the better as there are palm trees that block the lower rooms...

I would have to say right away that if you are planning on having secluded , quiet, calm vacations don't pick this hotel. You will be very disappointed. This hotel would be a perfect place for a family with young children who love the pool and don't mind loud music being played quite often by the pool side. Fiesta Americana is located right next to another hotel, called the Friendly Vallarta, and Friendly Vallarta LOVES to party. I mean really, they don't get bored out there. They play very loud music (you can totally hear it) , bingo (you can hear numbers being called out too), games etc. If you are going to use a palapas on the beach you will be subjected to this noise.

Fiesta Americana is located not far away from the Airport (about 15 min. drive). We used a taxi and it cost us about $19 US.
We were given a very nice ocean view room on the 5th floor. Our room was not very big, rather clean but what we really loved was the view. We really enjoyed the wonderful sunsets every evening. A few times from our room we even observed some dolphins and a whale swimming in the ocean.

The beach is not bad but it is more suited for people who can swim. Waves are rather strong and there are barely any shallow waters.
There are plenty of beach chairs and palapas. We never had any problems finding a spot. I usually had coffee on the beach after a morning swim and later on we ordered some food. The waiters were wonderful. I would have to say that the staff of this hotel were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. They were always smiling, greeting you and ready to help if you need something.

This hotel is located in a close proximity to a lot of businesses. Bus stop is right outside of the gates. Supermarket is across the street. Starbucks is about 10 minutes walk. There are wide variety of restaurants conveniently located near this hotel. Buses run literally every minute and cost only 6 pesos (50 cents), or you can use taxi to downtown for 50 pesos ($4.00 US). If you are planning to drive in PV - don't do it. We rented a car and it was an unnecessary expense ($460 for 10 days). First of all, their roads have a weird design and you have to get use to it. I have never seen roads like that anywhere. Downtown has narrow cobblestone streets with lots of traffic. The streets also have numerous pot holes that can easily cause damage to a rental car, and local drivers are not the best. We also were stopped by their police and it was very unpleasant. The policeman was literally asking us to pay him 300 pesos and he made up all sorts of lies like he would take my driver license, and that I was not wearing a seat belt ( i was wearing it ). I knew he was lying and I did not give him a dime, but you don't want to deal with such harassment. I would strongly advise you to use the bus and be happy you are not driving in that mess.

This was my third stay at the FA and each time I have a warm welcome feeling as soon as I enter.
The hotel feels like a quiet , classy retreat. The perfect place to get away from it all. The room was comfortable and always clean, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the view from our 5 th floor room was incredible. The concierge staff went the extra mile to get my camera back after I left it in a taxi. The taxi ride to downtown was 50 pesos which is a little over $4. They do charge extra for coffee for the coffee maker in the room.
