“GREAT!!!! vacation... NO KIDS!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2008

Casa Velas is a great small hotel that offers a romantic getaway without kids & crowds. Their sister hotel (Velas Vallarta) is CRAZY. Hundreds of kids & people. Velas Vallarta has 600 rooms as to Casa Velas Boutique Hotel 60 suites with pool/jacazzuis in your room & NO KIDS. The one thing that sold us about Casa Velas is that the hotel offers guests a private beach house to be used by Casa Velas guests ONLY!!!! So you get the best of both worlds the privacy on the beach & at your hotel. The only thing is that Velas Vallarta guests are always trying to sneak in to the CASA VELAS BEACH HOUSE. But If your looking for a quite place, something away from the normal population of vacationers at a very reasonable price Casa velas is for you. Their food and serivce was GREAT. A cab can take you to the city in 7 minutes. The city does get over populated with day vistors from the many cruises that stop for day shopping. So the drive is well worth it when you enjoy the return back home from shopping in the city.

  • Liked — The service was excellent. Staff was attentive to your every need
  • Disliked — Hector the head bartender at the beach house was lazy, rude & did not enjoy his job.

Our vacation at this beautiful hotel was enhanced by its tranquil setting. It was situated on the golf course with lovely greens alongside palm trees and winding pool. The private beach club was only a couple of minutes away. We were taken there at a moments notice by the hotel van. The pool, beach and restaurant at this location were wonderful. The food at the hotel's gourmet restaurant was delicious and prepared with great detail. The entire staff was friendly and knew our names from the minute we arrived. We were treated as if we were the only couple in the hotel. Our large and lovely room which included an indoor jacuzzi and private outdoor plunge pool was delightful. The towels were fluffy and the king size bed with down comforter and pillows were inviting. The manager of the hotel, Luis Rodriguez, was a true gentleman who could not do enough for us. He was interested in our needs and he aimed to please. It was a pleasure to meet a hands on manager who really cared about his guests. This vacation was one that was memorable and left us wanting to return soon and we definitely will

My wife and I stayed at Casa Velas 9/28-10/5. This is a smaller quiet hotel for adults only. I loved the look of the hotel because it keeps with a mexican feel in the design. The grounds are impeccably kept. Our room was very nice with a jacuzzi tub and a small pool on the balcony. The bed was very comfortable. It was a good size room, not giant or anything. But our room was for sleeping and showering only.

They have a wonderful pool with a swim up bar which is where we spent most of days. The service at this resort is by far the best I have ever had. They wait on you hand and foot. We never opened any doors, and were always greeted by Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Craig. At the pool when you first sit down they bring you bottled water, and anytime I had a drink another was waiting for me before I finished the last. it was First -Rate the whole week!

There is an excellent restaurant on the property, Emiliano's, the food was fantastic. Weather it was breakfast, lunch or dinner we enjoyed our meal everytime. The pool bar serves lunch as well. Tacos, Quesadilla, hamburgers, salads everything was great. We ate lunch there most of the time.

We did eat at the sister resort, Velas Vallarta, and the food was good. Not as good as Emiliano's but for an all-inclusive it was above average. There also is a beach club at Casa Velas that is right on the beach with a nice pool. The food is asian and it was just okay for me. Lunch was better then dinner. Although dinner was very romantic with candles lit at each table.

Overall I would go back there in a second. It is a quiet resort without the screaming kids, and the service was the best.

If you are disappointed at this resort then I guess you are just one of those people who will never be satisfied.

  • Liked — The service was the best I ever had
  • Disliked — I wish it was on the beach.

The resort was very nice. Grounds well maintained, and also they were performing some repairs as this was the slow season. Rooms were very nice. We were in a grand class suite with a king size bed, which was very comfortable. The only issue with the room would be the shower. It's part of the tub and getting in and out can be tricky. Take it slow and easy. Only one place to eat at the resort, and it was very good. We were allowed to visit the sister resort, Velas Vallarta, where there was two other eating places. Both of these we visited quite often. Pool service at Casa as compared to Velas, was not up to par. We waited for over 1 1/2 hrs one day for a waiter. We spent most of our pool time at Velas. Our waiter (Luis) was excellent. We did spend some time at the beach club, which is part of Casa Velas. Very nice except for the beach vendors, not a big deal.
Transportation between the resorts was excellent. The guys at the front doors were always very helpful.
Being able to go back and forth between the two resorts was kinda nice. Casa Velas is very quiet, no children, and Velas had a little more action. You had the best of both world's.

We would more than likely stay at this resort again.

The resort is beautiful. Very quiet, there were less than 40 people staying at the resort while we where there. Staff is very helpful and service was excellent.

The rooms were very nice. The bathrooms need updating. The shower pressure was horrible - and went from scalding hot to freezing cold about every 30 seconds. Also - you shower in a hot-tub and must step in and out perching precariously on the slick steps.

Food was ok. The restaurant at Casa Vellas is the best...and would avoid Andreas at the sister resort.

Bar-staff were excellent and very friendly. The evenings we spent with them might have been the highlight of our entire trip.

The one huge blemish on our trip was that we were told as we were checking in that the hotel was doing service work on the air conditioning five days into our seven day stay and that we would have to be moved to the hotel's sister resort mid-stay. We were so tired from our flight we did not object. We also did not know that the sister resort was full of screaming families and rooms that were not as nicely furnished as the Casa Vellas. For our troubles - management promised us an hour spa treatment. We then learned that there was no air conditioning problem - but that they hotel had a large group coming on Thursday and they wanted our room. The large group did come on Thursday and overtook the entire hotel...we even witnessed new guests entering our old room. If they overbooked - fine. Call me in advance and explain the situation and work to make it right. But to lie to my face...

We went to Puerto Vallarta Mexico and stayed at Casa Velas Hotel which is 5 mintues from the airport. The physical part of the resort was beautiful. The restaurants, gardens, lobby, spa, and fitness were all very well maintained. We spent 4300 on this all inclusive for 7 nights and were given a suite with jacuzzi and plunge pool. My husband and I went on our honeymoon here and we are 26 years old.

Hotel Ambiance
The hotel is so quiet. No one stays up past 10:00 anywhere no matter what age. The hotel is super super quiet and does not have any bar really to hang out in during the night. The hotel lobby bar stays open until the last person leaves, however, it is just a small bar with a few chairs and then tables set above the pool which you can sit at. So if you are in it to hang out with your significant other and no one else the ambiance would be good for that. It is so quiet!!!

The Food
The food was terrible in my opinion. I did not like anything. I ate nachos and chips and salsa all week. The fajitas were good though. The restaurant on site was all gourmet food and I did not like one meal there. The serving sizes were so small and the menu never changed enough to make it feel like another restaurant. Person always playing the piano and the restaurant was very prim and proper. The only restaurant onsite and the dress code is khaki pants and a nice shirt for men. Shorts are not allowed for men.

The Drinks
They do not have captain morgan on site anywhere so if you prefer captain you better bring some. I had to drink fufu drinks all week and they don't do much for you after a while. Also, the better you tip the better they pour. Make sure you always ask for extra alchohol bc they don't make anything very strong.

The Town
Puerto Vallarta has alot of Mexican history which they are trying to preserve. The downtown area is nice and if you are in the mood to party you can find plenty of bars to do so. The beach is just like the Pacific Ocean in Southern California so don't expect anything more. We did not even snorkel bc the water was not very clear.

Overall
We could have went to Vegas and stayed at the nicest hotel and ate at the best restaurants for a similar price. For us the best part was just being able to spend 7 nights with each other and no one bugging us. If you are considering this resort I would not recommend it. I would look into Secrets Capri Mayan Riviera! Best place we have stayed so far in Mexico. Casa Velas was just okay for me.

The husband and I stayed at Casa Velas July 3rd thru the 13th. If you are looking for a relaxing, high end, no-kids splashing pool water in your cocktail vacation...this is your place. The grounds are spectacular, the staff is friendly and the food is great for an all inclusive. The only downside, the beds are so darn comfortable...you won't want to get out of it to enjoy all of the other perks. Thankfully they have 24 hour room service.

  • Liked — Service, atmosphere & room
  • Disliked — room service after 11pm food quality slipped in comparison
