“Poor and ridiculously overpriced internet connection!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Everything might be ok with this hotel but a BIG downer is that they charge internet access. The cost is ridiculous: about 50 dls per 5 days, though this is fee only applies for one device. So, as a family we'd have to pay about 250 dls just to have a slow connection in our rooms and hotel!!!

My 1st visit since 2009,i am a v.d.p. owner. I prefer it here over the cabo site i own, however, was a little disappointed this time. I think more attention needs to be given here instead of trying to SELL new locals! Even as an owner you get the sales talk! If you can get away from them, you can have a great time. Staff here are very friendly & helpful(as compared with staff at next stop in Mazatlan!) & seem to remember returing members. DO NOT take the all inclusive plan! There are far too many good restaurants to try downtown to limit yourself to the resort food, which, with the exception of Patrons, was just ok.(see review) Resort is a bus or taxie ride away & is very safe.

Room Tip: most rooms have a decent view.If you want absolute quiet stay at sister hotel next door--Villa Del M...

We first stayed at this hotel 20+ years ago. We enjoyed it then and we enjoyed it this time. The hotel has been well maintained. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite that had everything that we needed. The housekeeping staff kept the room clean and to our surprise changed the linens and towels every day. The beds were very comfortable and it was easy to get a good nights sleep.
We were not part of the all inclusive plan and took advantage of the opportunity to eat at the multitude of restaurants available within walking distance or just a short bus ride which you can catch right in front of the hotel.
The pools were clean and warm. We mostly used the smaller pool as it was a little more quiet than the main pool. The beach adjacent to the hotel was great for walking.
The cost for internet service is quite high which is a bit of downer but there is a Starbucks about 3 blocks away where we were able to check out e-mails etc with a great cup of coffee. Our morning ritual.
The only downside was the fact that our room safe had low batteries and this was never rectified even though we had told the front desk twice about the problem, once verbally and once in writing.
We will stay at this facility again if the opportunity arises to be in Puerto Vallarta.

Just 5 minutes from town and great restaurants, Villa Del Palmar is ideal, with its sandy beach, free kayaks and free paddle surfing and wonderful swimming pools, thatched umbrellas on the sand or at the pool, the Villa del Palmar is a warm and friendly hotel.

Two for one cocktails at noon to one, and three to four pm happy hours -- perfect when lounging at the beach or between volleyball games.

Yes, you will get asked to take timeshares, nd if you do you can take a fantastic swim with the dolphins and get a massage on the beach... if you don't take a timeshare tour, that is fine too.
My husband and I spent 7 nights in a studio room and wanted to extend for another week, but it was full. We will definitely return. Good for families too.

Claudia, Carla, Africa and Dulce were so kind. Yolanda and Magdelena gave great massages and everyone was terrific, housekeepers impeccably cleaned the sand on our floor daily.

The food at the hotel is just so-so, with the Italian restaurant's filet mignon a wonderful exception. Take a taxi into town for 5 dollars, or ride the bus, which stops right outside for 80 cents (it runs every 2 minutes!) and enjoy some amazing restaurants like: Mama Rosa (contemporary Mexican) or our favorite El Arrayan Cucina with the duck carnitas and tangerine margaritas and the outdoor patio.

Have a wonderful time - a great value, great location and great beach!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool in one of the three main buildings, preferably on floors 3 thru 8.

It was my first time at this hotel, and it was better than i thought. Excellent staff, food service, installations, wonderful beach area, kind people, etc.
I loved the location, cause it is close to downtown, where you can go to take dinner, or just walk at the Malecon. And close enough from New Vallarta.
Excellent place to stay if you go with your family, they have various activities and suggested places to visit.
Without a doubt i'll return.

Room Tip: Take a room near the pool and restaurants

The hotel is very nice although somewhat dated. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The location is great, just far enough from the downtown area yet close enough to easily access it. Nice beach area and 2 pools. All rooms look out onto the pools and I believe all have at least a partial ocean view. The employees are very friendly and helpful. One thing that I found rather annoying was the constant special events (at least 3 per week) that take up a large portion of the beach during the day for set up. Maybe some people enjoy these events but I did not. We always enjoy our stay at this property.

Very clean, safe property. Friendly, helpful desk staff. Pool waiters and activities staff very engaging and attentive. Close enough to downtown for variety. Good selection of food - one suggestion to use the ceviche recipe used by your Cancun location. Most people we met have been returning to this resort. Wonderful location, I look forward to my next visit! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars to the room is that it could used a bit of sprucing as we were told the property is 28 years old. One other item, no ice machines. You can buy ice at the little deli on site or make your own in the mini freezer (we had a studio unit.)

Room Tip: no ice machines. we bought ice at the little deli on site.
