I feel sorry for the people rating this resort a 5. They obviously just don't know any better. Service was spotty at best. I'm not going to get into the Timeshare people, that is a problem everywhere in Mexico. The food made a lot of people sick. (Avoid the beach restaurant's salad bar) So that takes them from 2 restaurants to 1 and you have to get a reservation, which is not what I want to do on my vacation. My wife got a mani/pedi from the spa which she came back in tears because it was so bad. They actually used a Conair Foot Spa (30 bucks at a General store) and the water wasn't even warm. It was just moderate experience after moderate experience. Try a resort in the Palace Chain!!! and you will see what a 5 is!!!! I am just most upset that so many idiots rated it high and convinced me to ruin my Honeymoon. My wife and I have 1 day left here and we just want to leave! We already decided we are going to take a long weekend in Cancun at a Palace resort later this year that will be our Honeymoon.

I took my wife and two boys (9 and 11) here for few days earlier this month. It wass OK. The grounds were well kept, and we had a nice 2 bedroom (these are hard to find at the resorts). The best thing about it was the service. All the people (desk, maids, waiters, etc.) were exceptional. Some of the best of any large hotel/resort I've stayed at.

My biggest disappointment was the food. I expected better food quality. I thought I paid a premium to stay at this resort ($800/night all inclusive), say relative to Dreams, which did not have a 2-bedroom, and I think the lack of quality food results in this resort not being a very good value.

The fitness center has a treadmill, a bike, and an elliptical. I expected a better fitness center than what they had. You can go to Casa Velas for free and use their unviersal machines and free weights (dumbbells).

My kids enjoyed the pools. The ocean was murky when we were there. The beach is open to vendors, but they're not too bad. If you let the 'welcoming committee' know right away that your not interested in time shares, they leave you alone.

I would recommend to anyone who needs a two bedroom resort to consider it, but look for a discount.

My family stayed in Velas Vallarta for 5 days. Loved it! The place was clean and really beautiful. My 2 year old daughter loved it mainly because of the peacocks, the fish in the ponds, the birds, the cats, and the iguana. My husband and I loved it because of the way we were treated by the staff and the project director himself, Mr. Ramon Bernal. The food was great and the service impeccable. And the aromatherapy massage was the best.
The only thing lacking is an ATM. My husband had to walk a few blocks to get some cash and was approached by a suspicious looking man inside the ATM booth and a timeshare person while he was walking.
Having said all that, my family will definitely go back.

It was a very nice place. We were pampered with great service by all employees. The food was good, our room was wonderful. The only thing that was we did not like was there really is not alot for kids to do (10-12). Most places we have stayed at have had a lot of entertainment at night and many contest during the day. Here there really is nothing . There is no sit down bar were you can interact with other guest . I would highly recommend going up town and eating at Cafe Roma. Cheap cold beer and great food the waiters are the most friendly group we met. They are located beside the flea market
