Our first time was in Feb 2007, our second Feb 2008, we are already looking forward to our extended return in Feb 2009 at this cosy retreat. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. The atmosphere is great, the location is great, and the proximity to the stores, beach, and restaurant’s are great, everyone is wonderful. The friends we go with, the staff and the new friends we've made at this hotel are a bonus. We always have a great time here. The rooms are clean, the property is clean, and breakfast is always healthy, hearty and plentiful. This is Mexico, not Canada, an open mind is a must when you visit another country. The Mercurio Staff are always there to help and prepared to go above and beyond to please their guests and make your visit comfortable right from the get go. The service from the front desk to the back is professional and always with a smile from everyone. When we stay here, we feel very much like we are at home, not like we are staying at a hotel.

I've been to PV seveal times and always enjoy myself. This year, I joined a group of friends who had stayed at Hotel Mercurio before - but it was my first time.

It's a great place and it's a great location - two blocks up from the beach (near Apaches) in Zona Romantica. The rooms are basic but it has the amenities required - t.v. and AC in room, free phone & computer, a free (beach) towel service, a lounge pool (see picture), breakfast is included, and 'locals' (and other tourists are welcome for happy hour.

Last but not least, it has the most friendly hotel staff you can imagine. There were nine of us this year and the staff treated us all like kings. They're wonderful. And aside from the staff, it's not often that the hotel owner (Paul) shows up everyday and enjoys meeting the guests.

I'm already booked for 2009.

Last February I had the good fortune to spend a week at Hotel Mercurio in Puerto Vallarta. This was my first trip to the city and I was a little apprehensive because of a new destination and my Spanish is - more Italian. My fears were unfounded.
The instructions provided by the hotel for negotiating the airport, finding the hotel arranged transportation (worth every penny and not many pennies) and the trip to the hotel were flawless. The driver was cordial and very safe and sane. Once at the hotel I was met by the competent staff and check in/orientation was a breeze. The room was clean and comfortable but not luxurious. While it is obvious that improvements were ongoing the important things in the room such as bed, shower, workspace, fridge and such were more than acceptable. The decor was in need of help, but I do not tend to spend a lot of time in the room. There is a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning around the small but adequate pool and the evening happy hour is great fun - it is difficult to not meet your fellow travelers and become friends. What Mercurio lacks in luxury it more than makes up for in friendliness, service, kindness and care of the guests. And the location! Perfect for getting to know Puerto Vallarta as an old and interesting town. I'll be back in 2009 for an extended stay - I've fallen in love with both PV and The Mercurio.

I spent 4 wonderful days at Mercurio Hotel, Puerta Vallarta. It is a charming small, very gay friendly place. I had a pleasant single room at pool side which was nice. The guests were very accomodating and it was not noisy after 10 PM. The breakfast buffet is one of the best. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is located only a block away from the beach and surrounded by great restaurants and shops. The price is right too. I highly recommend this quaint, small hotel.
