This place is special - because its more like you are staying with a friend than in a hotel. Rita herself (the owner) will welcome you, you will be served drinks on the terrace overlooking the bay and she will give you a perfect intro into the hotel and the city, including where to eat, which beach to go to etc.
There are only a few rooms, when we were there only one other room was taken, so it really felt more like a private home, The pool is small but nice, the whole place is like a little oasis. The decor of the whole place is amazing, very thoughtful donw to the last little accessoire. You do need to take into account that this is no glitzy chain hotel / resort like in the zoma hotelera. If you rather prefer this sort of hotel than this is not the place for you.
Drawbacks, if any, are in my view the fixed breakfast time at 9:30 (I prfer to get up earlier) and the showers do need a bit of fixing...also warm water seemed to be rare. alos, you should be aware that the place is smack in the middle of old Vallarta, giving you great views but also all the sounds of the city, including chucrh bells that seem to go off at random and loud music from the town square from time to time. it did not bother us, but you should know its not always peaceful.

My fiance and I just returned from a week at Casa Amorita. We had initially planned to stay for three nights and spend our remaining time at a high-end megahotel in Nuevo Vallarta. After spending one night at Casa Amorita, we cancelled our reservations in Nuevo Vallarta and settled in for the week.

September is the end of the off-season in Puerto Vallarta which means
1. It is really humid
2. It rains in the afternoon almost every day
3. Many restaurants and shops are closed.

So, was our trip negatively impacted by these challenges? No. Not one bit. And it is completely thanks to Rita, her amazing staff, Maya the dog, and Casa Amorita.

The humidity was a wonderful excuse to come back to Casa Amorita in the afternoon and take a refreshing dip in the pool (which was significantly cooler than the bathtub-like temperatures of the ocean). And we often even stayed in the pool during the rain which was a beautiful, surreal experience. Watching the rain clear and the brilliant colors of the sunset from the rooftop patio or from our private patio was something we looked forward to each day.

And the restaurant and shop closures were never an issue - Rita and her staff are an excellent resource and made some excellent, off the beaten path suggestions.

And the masseuse. I've had a number of massages in my lifetime and this was hands-down the most complete massage experience I've ever had. And, not to mention, for half the cost of a similar massage in the U.S.

Casa Amorita is the perfect place for discerning travelers in search of a truly special and unique experience in Puerto Vallarta.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Amorita during our honeymoon. We received fantastic service from Rita and her staff. Our room was very comfortable, with a large comfortable bed, air conditioning, satalite TV, and a private balcony. The decor was also very tasteful. We enjoyed the close proximity to good restaurants and shopping, and Rita gave us helpful recommendations for dining and entertainment.

We've travelled a lot, stayed in luxury hotels, budget hotels, and bed and breakfasts in many countries - and we're fairly picky about what we look for in a place to stay. Without a doubt, Casa Amorita ranks up there with the best places we've ever stayed.

In our view, a good way to describe Casa Amorita is as a great "home away from home located in a little bit of paradise". Yes, this sounds cliched, but this place really means it. Right from your arrival, the owner, Rita Love, sets the tone: relaxed and informal, a 'use it as your home' and 'we're here to help' philosophy. The ambience and setting is great.

Rita goes the extra mile to make her guests feel special. On the hot and humid afternoon we arrived, she had cool washcloths scented with lemon and cool drinks for us as we checked in. Her breakfasts were phenomenal (see other comments on this site), and she was always available to help (she made reservations for our sightseeing/adventure activities and restaurants, and great advice was always available on what to see and do). We are self-described food and wine 'snobs', but Rita's restaurant recommendations were always spot-on. In addition, she offers plenty of extra services (like massage and laundry) that you'd normally expect to find only in a full-service hotel.

If you want everything that comes with a big hotel, don't like walking, and aren't fond of city sounds - you might not want to stay at Casa Amorita. For example, the church bells and street noises can be persistent, and it's a good cardiac workout to walk up the hill to the Casa from the Malecon. In our view, many of the negative comments on this site come from people who've had expectations that don't fit with a B&B located in the center of a town.

However, if you like small, boutique-type venues, enjoy mixing with the local culture, like to be pampered in a laid-back setting that feels like (and is) someone's home, and want to relax by a beautiful pool at a great location in the center of town - then do yourself a favor and book your next stay in Puerto Vallarta at Casa Amorita!

Right in the middle of old town...which is where you want to be. My wife and I stayed four days leading up to Easter Sunday. This week is the busiest week of the year in Puerto Vallarta. Our room was very nice and had a private patio. The breakfast each morning was well prepared and delicious. It has a great roof top sitting area with a great view of the bay. I recommend Casa Amorita to anyone who wants to be close by to the good beaches, shopping and restaurants. You don't a car...everything is within waking distance. Buses run up and down the coast all day long for those who wish to explore the sites outside of the town. I recommend the Zip lines !
