“Charming Zona Romantica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We find this area of town to be the most charming in PV with its small shops selling Mexican handicrafts, art, jewelry, etc. Cobble stone streets, loads of restaurants, and a lovely square with free folklorico dance performances are the reason to be here.

“Zona Rosa--South Side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Many people who visit Puerto Vallarta never make it across the RIo Cuale to the South Side (the name Zona Romantica is the invention of the tourist industry). And that's a shame if they want to experience the more Mexican and less touristy atmosphere of the area, while visiting a multitude of shops, galleries, good restaurants, musicians strolling the beach, restaurants and clubs with live jazz or Latin rhythms. Walk the side streets to get a glimpse of neighborhood life (although the area is home to many US and Canadians now).

“Like it or dislike it?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

How you receive the Zonz Romantica depends upon what you are looking for in Vallarta. If you want a pristine resort surrounded by pristine grounds and a very "Americanized" setting, then stay north of the Zona Romantica and Downtown. Starting with the Sheraton and heading north you will be very pleased with what you see and the surrounding areas.

If on the other hand you want to be surrounded by "Mexico" and immeresed in its culture then stay downtown or in the Zona. Down there you will be surrounded by the locals and all they have to offer. I am not saying one is better then the other, they are just different. What are you lookinf for? Yes the streets are terrible and the sidewalk uneven and some have potholes so you must always watch where you are going. I myself enjoy the foreigness of international travel so on my first visit to PV when I stayed at the Sheraton I was greatly disappointed. Yes the Sheraton is beautiful and the food sumptous but in the Zona I have tried new things and enjoyed the experience. When I am in the north Zone I don't even feel as though I am in a foreign country.

I have friends who have 2 timeshares in Nuevo Vallarta and had never been downtown. I finally talked them into going to the zona romantica one evening and after 10 minutes of walking aroung they hopped into another cab and headed straigh back to their all-inclusive. It just wasn't for them.

“The Romantic Zone is great for browsing and shopping”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

We spend hours browsing through the many shops in this area. The choice of restaurants and bars was very broad.

“don't let the name fool you”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

i don't know why this section of vallarta is called the romantic zone except that its full of gays and lesbians
they don't bother me at all but if your not prepared for it it could bother some
the resataurants on the beach are fun and so are the parasailing and fishing
this is where playa los muertos or the dead beach is
it is full of vendors and is in the true spirit of having a a great time
just don't get to drunk you never know what could happen down here
enjoy!! its a great time !
