“Accurate Trip Advisor reviews led to choice”

I chose Los Arcos primarily for location and knew from reading previous reviews there could likely be difficulties with my reservation even though I made it 5 months in advance and confirmed via phone twice. Sure enough the room, (master suite), wasn't available for the first two nights. After meeting with the manager on duty and moving twice we got our room and of course a partial refund on rate as well as a nice fruit basket as an apology. The final room was great, wraparound balcony, comfortable pillowtop mattress, fridge and coffee maker and full ocean view. This is an older building but kept very clean and well maintained. You can't beat the location. You are on the beach, steps to a variety of restaurants. The hotel restaurant was fine too although we only ate there once. Every staff member we came in contact with was genuinely friendly and helpful. Planning on Los Arcos for next year and will just keep my fingers crossed on the reservations issue.

Have traveled there for over 20 years and the the location is still the best. The employees could be employees of the finest 4-5 star hotels in the world..SOme may think the rooms are not the greatest..but you dont go on vacation to a mexican Beach to stay in the room.Mgr.Robles and his staff(R.Tapia,G.Carreon) are the best!!

Each year we make a reservation on line with a request for a private balcony, king bed, and refrigerator. For the last 4 years, we get a room with no balcony, no view, and no refrigerator. After 2 days of complaints, we usually get an acceptable room. It happens every year and we are tired of it.

While the Playa Los Arcos Hotel is older, it was kept very clean and the location was great. The pool was outstanding in temperature, cleanliness and size, though it was full of kids by 11:00 a.m. We enjoyed the 2 iguanas that lived on the tile roof of the reception area. Our balcony had a nice view. The spa had a very nice, reasonably priced massage. That is about all I can say good about this place.
The first room (#103) they put us in was tiny - one bed, no balcony. We asked to be moved and the next day we moved to room 223 which had 2 beds and a balcony facing the pool. The outside door was facing the very busy (loud) street (which was blocked off for New Years and set up with gigantic speakers and loud music until 2 a.m.) Our toilet plugged up twice. I began using the lobby toilets so as not to have to deal with the plumbing problem. The bathroom was so small you could wash your hands while sitting on the toilet. The room was just not as nice as advertised and not worth the money we paid for it.
We did not do the AI as we like to try different restaurants. There are plenty within walking distance of the hotel.
We didn't really enjoy P.V. very much. Too noisy and crowded. Much preferred out stay in Cabo the previous year.

My Wife and I have been going to this Hotel now for sixteen years, so obviously we like it. On the positive side, we love:-

1. Emelio, the beach person.
2. Saul, the relieving beach person.
3. Oreilla, our room looker-after.
4. Ramon. Say no more.
5. The Reservation Manager, Margarita.

On the negative side, we do not like:-

(a) Either of the afternoon check-in girls. When we got there in late October, we had been flying for twenty hours, (from Australia) and were in no mood to be told that they could not find any reference to us on their system. They kept asking me for my name, I kept telling them my name and they kept repeating it wrongly and shaking their heads. They were quite willing to turn us away without looking further until I remembered that I had the reservation number written down on one of Margarita's cards. I showed them this and suddenly a miracle, there we were all along. I understand that English is not their first language, but they need to learn to be a bit more helpful.

(b) The Waiter at the Restaurant Maximilian, who last year refused a tip of 12% as it was too small, and told me that 15% was necessary and not negotiable. He seems to be gone this year, so hopefully that problem is no more.

So now that I have got that off my chest, I repeat that apart from (a) and (b) above, we just love the joint and have booked again for October 2011. Hopefully, we will get past the check-in girls with a little less fuss this year.

I'm going to have to be one of the detractors for this hotel.

While the location is great, right on the beach in the heart of the Zona Romantica, the room we had was not ideal. We had room 225. Our front door faced the main street, which was quite busy and loud throughout the night. The noise was a problem. Our room had 2 double beds, one of which reached from one end of the room to 2 inches from the opposite wall, which created a barrier from one end of the room to the other. We had to jump over the bed to get to the other half of the room. The bathroom was very small, very little room to move around. Also the room smelled very musty and "old" smelling. No amount of ventilation from the outside air could help this. One plus for our room is that we were able to pick up the WiFi signal from the downstairs lobby from time to time. Not 100% of the time, but most of it.

On the good side, this hotel is a bargain for its price and location. We did not choose the all-inclusive, so I can't speak to that, but there are plenty of restaurants within 2-4 blocks to try out. It's right on the beach, close to the pier where you can catch boat tours to nearby places.

DH and I had room 410. Sister and BIL had 337. Best friend and DH had room 310.
Each loved their room for different reasons. All had nice balconies. 310 is full ocean view with king bed. 410 and 337 had pool, palapa and partial ocean view. Balcony of 337 was more private than 410.
We were all inclusive and ate and drank alot of food and drink. All was fine except I didnt like Italian night. Pasta was slimy and tasteless. Everything else was good for what it was. It wasnt gourmet by any means. There were fresh fruit and veggies at every meal.
It was really good for the price. The drinks were plentiful and very tasty. I tried so many :)
You cant go wrong. One of the best vacation deals in PV....IMO..... for our kind of vacation, it was perfect. The location cant be beat. I wouldnt even consider staying anywhere else in PV.
We cant wait to go back Dec 2011.
