If you have children, this is the place to stay. If you are an adult, without children do not stay here. It is loud most of the day, very little to no internet service and the front desk is awful. This is another example of the typical bad customer service that is very prominent in Mexico. If you are planning on looking at realty, this location is center to business rentals etc.

Room Tip: If you must stay here choose the 4th floor, it is too loud and the first few floors are very wet fro...

We had a very disappointing stay here at Playa Los Arcos. I'll start at the beginning. A week before arriving I e-mailed twice and even tried to do a live chat via their website to inquire about our stay but never once received a reply. Nothing. When we arrived to check in the hotel staff was indifferent. I did receive a "one free drink coupon" after checking in. Only one....and there's two people checking in. Hmm, really?. We never received a welcome. You have to wear an annoying colored wristband the whole time of your stay here. The color determines whether your doing the all inclusive or not. Yellow=yes, blue=no. We did not do the all inclusive as we've been to Puerto Vallarta before and always enjoy all the restaurants and bars in town. I asked about an upgraded room and the woman behind the desk gave the bellman two different sets of keys and showed us two different types of rooms. When I asked about a king bed I was actually told that they're not recommended because they are bad rooms. Yikes. The first room which was on the third floor was supposed to be our original room smelled very, very musty. The second room on the forth floor didn't smell and had a nice open balcony. Needless to say we took the second room and paid an extra $10.00 per night as an upgraded room. The room while clean was outdated. The room had two beds, a in room safe, iron and ironing board and free bottled water daily except for the last day. The last day we never received the water. The closet was only big enough for one suitcase and to hang some clothes. The dresser had drawers that when you pulled them out they hung down. No sliding hardware on the drawers. The beds were terrible and so hard. I'm a side sleeper and every night my hip would hurt from laying on the hard bed. The air conditioner in the room was bad and never kept the room cold. It's controlled by a thermostat on the wall and there was no way to make it any colder then it was. It was OK for sleeping but during the daytime, after getting out of the shower you'd immediately sweat. The a/c just couldn't keep the humidity out. The bathroom is small but has a big walk in tiled shower. The water pressure was fine but at times the water temperature would go from hot to cold without warning. Also the bathroom's exhaust is a grated wooden slot that you can see the outside from. If you kept the bathroom door open all the air from the a/c would escape outside. Also missing in the bathroom was the plunger for the sink. The television was a flat screen with a few English channels. The WiFi was nonexistent unless you went down to the lobby. Occasionally if it was late at night we'd sometimes get a signal in the room for a minute or two. The second day we asked the front desk if we could have a refrigerator in our room and the guy actually questioned me whether I was even staying there. Really? Maybe these wristband things don't work after all. We did get the fridge but after three days it quit working altogether and I asked for a replacement one and drew an attitude from the man at the front desk.I also informed him that there was a bare light bulb hanging on the wall without a shade over it and it needed to be fixed. It remained that way the whole week without being repaired. Good job guys.

There's signs saying no smoking at the resort yet people were smoking all over the place and it was never enforced. There's a couple different pools and a large hot tub. The beach at the resort was nice. There were lots of chairs and umbrellas. Local vendors were always walking by but never bothered anyone. The main pool was very hot! Not sure if was heated but if it was 85 degrees outside the pool felt like it was 95 degrees. The adult pool was much cooler and had a nice waterfall but often several kids were seen swimming in it. If sitting by the pool there are servers that will walk by and on occasion will take care of your drink order. I was never asked to put my credit card on file, and when I tried to order drinks it took twenty minutes to get it all straightened out. We drank elsewhere the rest of the week instead. The resort and pools are mostly full of Nationals as this is a low cost resort. At the pool one day I witnessed a man with his own cooler and watched as he took out his own bottle of rum and make himself and his wife a rum and Coke. The main pool is also loaded with inflatable rafts and toys. Also there's not enough chairs at the pool. Often we could never find an available chair to sit and relax in. A decent resort would never let this happen. We never ate at the restaurant so I can't comment on the food. There was entertainment on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday night in the restaurant. There were Mexican dancers and they were excellent and everyone enjoyed the shows.

Playa Los Arcos is in a great location with dozens of restaurants and bars withing walking distance. This and the nightly entertainment are the pluses. We stayed here seven days. Maybe since the low season was starting the service was lacking. I'm not sure. We never encountered any friendly, go out of your way employees like other reviewers are saying they did. We are seasoned travelers and I'm a ten plus year member on Tripadvisor and this review is not to complain about the bad things but just give my honest opinion. You get what you pay for. We will not be back.

Room Tip: Whether you have a big balcony or small you'll probably only use it to dry your wet clothes out...

The Los Arco is located in the center of the best part of Old Town P.V. This older hotel is very will kept and maintained in an excellent state of repair. The hospitality of the friendly, welcoming staff, the location, proximity to the beach, great restaurants and Malecon can't be beat. Everything is located within close walking distance. The entire staff at the Los Arcos always makes us feel at home.
If one is looking for the true taste and hospitality of Mexico, this is the place.
During our stay, we went fishing and brought back a Mahi Mahi or ''Drado", as the amigos pronounce it. We asked the Head Waiter, Manuel if he could have the kitchen prepare it for dinner for our party of four. The fish was prepared three different ways, (deep fried, butter & garlic and Veracruz style) and presented on a silver platter. It was all served beautifully, accompanied by fresh vegetables, rice and bread. Hats off to Manuel.
Our Concierge, Magda as always, is there to happily make any reservations, give directions and provide the inside scoop on "goings on" in P.V. And always with a smile.
When there be sure to say hola! to Felix, the best waiter in Puerto Vallarta.
Can't wait to get back.

Room Tip: South side, upper levels, with views of the pool and ocean are great. South side ocean facing rooms...

This was our first time visiting Puerto Vallarta, Playa Los Arcos was recommended to me by two couples that frequent the hotel. First I have to give kudos to Magda at the Concierge desk. She is a delight, eager to assist and very helpful. We loved our stay and are planning a return visit and will stay longer. I have two comments that I want to share, I was told that the entire resort was non smoking. People were smoking on the pool deck and in the adult pool . Staff ignored this. I was disappointed by this. The cigarette butts on the beach were not pleasant to look at. This is a problem with the guests and not respecting the beauty around them. Last but not least is that the cleanliness of the resort was was exceptional. We were happy and will return...

The staff do not know how to say no. They try very hard to grant you all your wishes. Martha, Magda, Emilio, and of course Jesus made us feel like family. See you next year.
The breakfast omelette bar is a great way to start your day.

This was my first visit to playa Los Arcos and it was a great bargain ...but, if you want a quiet resort free of family and children..its not the place for you. It does , however, have a sister resort across the street that is adult only and a great roof top pool..if you purchase the all inclusive plan you have access to both hotels. the sister hotel is Casa Susana..it has no restaurant or bar. Both resorts very clean.
The staff at both are awesome. would def return. Many great restaurants and bars close..very gay friendly and straight friendly. would go back.

Room Tip: choose oceanview or pool view room

This was our 2nd time staying at Playa Los Arcos (April 15 for 5 nights). We also stayed at their 2 other properties in the past; Los Arcos Suites and Casa Dona Susana, located right behind Playa Los Arcos. You can't beat the location in the heart of the romantic zone and steps from great restaurants and bars. The hotel and restaurant staff were fantastic. A big thank you to Betulio, Jesus and Rogelio who took amazing care of our group on this trip (as well as in the past). The rooms are very clean and have that rustic Mexican charm that we love. We plan on coming back next year and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose either the "Ocean View" more off the pool area in court yard and in direction faci...
