“This place was a DUMP!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Let me start by saying that this is only my opinion, which is subjective--tho I will be as factual and short as possible.

Pros- staff were helpful. its in a central location. If you get a room with a balcony the views can be awesome.

Cons- I slept in two different rooms and both beds felt as if they were made of cement blocks. The rooms are musty and lack ventilation. Bathrooms are small. paint in rooms is old and have foot and hand marks all over the place. The air conditioner is super old and isnt installed properly--as in, it sucks the air from the room and blows it back out circulating stagnant-stale air for as long as you have the air on. The bathrooms are tiny and stink of staleness and other unpleasantness. the furniture is old and has sharp edges (children and clumsy people beware). You only get water throughout the day (they give you two bottles per day but you can ask for more as the day continues) but cannot get any water in the evening. the shower curtains are stained and old. the curtains are old as hell and stink. Really the newest thing in the hotel rooms are the door locks (where a card is used for entry), everything else seems to be bought in 1966. The buffet sucked but the drinks were alright.
I would NOT stay in this place! Id rather bring a tent and sleep there.

I think for Puerto Vallarta, this is the best location if you want to be in the heart of the old part of town and right on the beach. We were here a couple nights right before New Years and it was crazy busy. The beach was so busy, we didn't really ever hang out there. The pool area was fun but a bit tight, not a lot of lying out area. And for some reason the workers kept throwing balloons in the pool, and we couldn't get away from the balloons. We have a 18 month old and thought the little kiddie pool would be perfect, but it was too cold. Most of the pool area doesn't get sun during the winter time. But the other pools are heated.
The room was dark and dingy. Old and not renovated in a while. However, our sister's room was even older and less modern, so I guess ours was renovated a bit. But I believe there are some renovated rooms that are probably much nicer. Our room also had paper thin walls and door so we could hear everything from the street. It was soooo loud. We couldn't sleep til the club closed around 2am.
The service is fine, nothing amazing. Just fine.
The location though is perfect I think. Not in Big resort world, still has some character and in the heart of the romantic zone and the Malecon. Perfect for walkers and explorers.
I would stay here again but in a better renovated room with a view.

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. When we saw our small musty room ask for an upgrade and glad we did. Much better and room was cleaner and more than twice the size of the regular room. DO NOT get a room on the first floor. Also ask for a ocean view, the higher up the better, both for view and noise factor.. Very noisy with pool and other traffic. Speaking of the pool area. A nice large pool but was extremely crowded with children of all ages when we were there, so we didn't use it. Had the inclusive package with drinks and food. You have to ware an wrist band to get your free drinks, which was understandable. Very good mixed drinks. All meals are buffet style. We really enjoyed the breakfast, but lunch and supper we a big let down. Opted to eat out. This hotel shows its age and is as I before very musty. Fixtures were rusty and dated. On our return we stayed at Porto Vallarta Premiere and thou more expensive was worth every dollar.

We have been coming to this hotel for Christmas for 4 years and can't imagine going anywhere else. I will say if you are looking for a very modern and sterile environment, this is not where you want to be. The hotel is older but clean and the service is wonderful. Each year when we come back we are welcomed by all the staff and feel so at home. Everyone seems to remember what our personal likes are and takes care of them. The beach is so relaxing and you are within walking distance to so many wonderful restaurants. We have just returned from our Christmas vacation and I can't wait to go again.

Room Tip: I prefer the ocean view. I must say the ocean is very noisy at night but I find it comforting. If...

The hotel couldn't have a better location and the service was excellent. This hotel will never be mistaken for a 5 star resort, but that is okay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are old and some of the furniture is showing some wear, yet the mattresses were newer and the room was very clean. If you put this room in the context of its extremely good value, location, and cleanliness I don't think you could do much better.

Today is our fifth day of our ten day stay here at the playa. the front desk staff welcomed us with big smiles and " welcome home " our favorite room was clean fresh and comfortable. Thank you Liptia. The wait staff made us feel so appericated by remembering our names, extending warm hugs and ofcourse that Welcome cocktail. Thanks Francis, Felix and Mauri. We apperciate you too. The food servers are always there and ready to cater to our needs wants and always have service with a smile. The food is good and always recommend the all inclusive. The night entertainment is wonderful. SOL Y LUNA is a top rate band and Flor is a class act with a truley beautiful voice. [ we miss Norley] I recommend the Playa Los Arcos to anyone looking for a leisure vacation at a lovely quaint beachside resort.
