“Superb value for the price, in our opinion!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

My girlfriend and I happened upon Hotel Belmar randomly online, and we are very happy with our choice. It is exactly what we needed!

Here is the key- know what to expect from an affordable hotel situated in a busy (read:convenient!) part of town before you go, and you won't be disappointed.

The hotel itself is incredibly clean! The decor is lovely- so much art from many different disciplines decorate the walls- I walked down other hallways just to see it all! There is reliable wifi throughout the hotel, and a computer in the lobby if you can't bring yours. The owner (I think she was the owner?), Maria Jose, was so incredibly helpful and informative, very willing to talk to us about the city, and has incredible knowledge of it. The location was ideal for us! An easy walk to the beach, to downtown, to the "zona romantica," etc. Lots of services very close by- pharmacies, small produce markets, etc.

The rooms are small but had more than enough space for what we needed. The shower was big and hot water was reliable and plentiful. The beds were firm, but that was no problem for us. Yes, it was a little loud, but anyone who has lived in a lively city or who has been anywhere other than a very expensive, soundproofed hotel in Mexico will tell you that is normal. Just bring some earplugs if you think you will be sensitive to the sounds.

The receptionists were great and super helpful!

I will most definitely come back if I am ever in need of a hotel in PV again (but now I'm living in a tiny apartment very close by the hotel belmar....and trust me, I miss the hotel,.) :)

This beautiful artsy hotel was recommended by a friend who has stayed here yearly for nearly 7 years. It has great service - great prices. Location is great - 5 minute walk to the markets. Real good value. With each trip back we'll definitely stay here and bring our friends. Fantastico ! Muchos Gracias, Dameyon.

Terrific value, very clean rooms including bathrooms, and well kept. Good mattresses and water supply, cable TV, a/c. One free internet terminal in the airy lobby. Very friendly front desk people.
One problem : street is noisy, buses are terrible, but indoor rooms are OK.
Best thing is location, you are in the middle of all you need, restaurants, shops, bars...three blocks from the beach. And you can wait for the buses to the modern side of the city, or the airport, at the door of the hotel.

Room Tip: In a very busy street, choose an indoor room if you don´t want noise

I love this sweet and petite hotel! The staff is friendly, awesome and helpful. The rooms (room31) were clean with ceiling fan, air conditioning, full size fridge, and balcony. Located south of the Rio Cuale, you can walk to the beach, downtown, and the bus stop is right in front if you want to go further. On the corner are taco carts, taxis, and a 24 hour market/pharmacy for late nights.
Go! joy!

We stayed at Belmar Hotel for a week during Christmas break 2011. We highly appreciate the staff who took great care of us as guests, gave us amazing recommendations on local eateries (taquerias) and were always smiling. Our room was clean and it had the basic necessities with a nice decorating touch. We liked the fact it was busy with locals and not entirely filled with tourists like us! The hotel is really central so you can enjoy downtown PV and it's a few minutes walk from the beach. The price is very reasonable.
I highly recommend this hotel for those who want to escape the big all inclusive hotels.
For light sleepers, ask for a room away from traffic as it gets loud in the mornings but that's everyday life in Mexico! Enjoy!

Gracias por una estancia agradable.

We needed a hotel room for one night. Read reviews from Trip Advisor, and selected this hotel. I guess for a Discount Hotel, it was ok. The room was small, two beds, but clean. The toilet and shower were both in a space about 3' X 5'. Traffic noise was loud. Ceiling fan had only two speeds > 'Prop-plane' High and Off. There was a safe in the room, but looked unused for years. Not much of a lock on the door going out to the patio. We locked our luggage when going out to dinner. Staff seemed friendly, but struggled with our English.

Room Tip: No Elevator - need to hawl bags up stairs. They had a computer in lobby - maybe offer free to guest...

Wow, for $32 a night, three blocks from the beach, in Old Vallarta, it is awesome! The ultra clean SMALL rooms have artwork, hot showers, and balconies. Free ice water, computer, Wi-FI, coffee, and sweets are welcome. I liked all the artwork throughout this gallery hotel. The staff were so friendly and professional. It is close to great restaurants and stores. I will go back again!!!
