“Temporary-Post-Vacation-Depression”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Its been a while since I've felt depressed after a trip.. I have withdrawal and temporary depression from an amazing time...I want to go back and stay another week....We recently (wifey and two kids) arrived from a six night stay at Garza Blanca in Puerto Vallarta and it was hands down, perfect! The staff are at your beckon call - room service, the guys at the pool, concierge, waiters, and butler... We did the all inclusive thing which, and by, all inclusive standards was way better than I expexted... Usually all inclusive implies run-of-the-mill buffet style food and alcohol.. Not at Garza.. We had Fiji water, grey goose vodka, short ribs burritos and Don Julio Blanco all day and night... Find me a place that has all inclusive with these high end items and still be very affordable... We stayed in a one-bedroom condo style room... that was right on the beach... On a side note, it was our five year anniversary and had the hotel butler and concierge set up a romantic, candle dinner on the beach as a surprise. Fidel and Jose, the butlers, did an amazing job at setting up with all the bells and whistles... It was all a secret and my wife was amazed and surprised... Thanks Fidel!!! Do not participate in the time share.. it was vague and a waste of time... By the way, room service is included in the all inclusive package...

My family and I stayed here in July for 5 nights. I booked a 2 bedroom suite through Expedia that included breakfast for 2 each morning. After I input my credit card number and received the itinerary I noticed it did not mention the breakfast. I called Expedia and the call center person said it was not included, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager finally said the booking would include the breakfast (after being on the phone call for 30 minutes). We were NOT provided with any included breakfasts after were actually arrived, though. Shame on Expedia for false advertising! I found another review of this resort that mentioned that Expedia did the same thing to them, too.

When we arrived the ditzy resort clerk put us in (2) ocean side 1 bedroom suites that were next to each other. That would have meant separating us with one parent/child per suite! We called the front desk and were promptly moved to the suite type that we had booked, but when we walked in it was being cleaned. The cleaning staff left without finishing.

The room was nice but a little underwhelming because it was not completely clean and was showing some wear. I called the front desk to inquire about the possibility of upgrading to one of the new towers. That desk person (Diana) was very friendly and offered to show us a room there. When we walked in we were overwhelmed! The tower panorama suites are utterly luxurious and have fantastic bay and rain forest views. And the upgrade was free!

The only slight negative was the expensive night time food at Blanca Blue. For what they were serving it was not worth the price.

This place is under construction with a new tower being built between the 2 existing ones, but it didn't cause us any problems. We did the beach side pool during the day and the tower pool in the evening after the construction was done for the day. There are bugs outside at this resort because its on mountain in a rain forest. No problems, though in our high up room at night and using Mexican bug spray during the days. The forest sounds add ambiance at night and are very relaxing.

We would love to stay at this resort again. I would try to book directly and avoid the Expedia situation.

Room Tip: Unless you never want to leave the beach, check out the new tower rooms on the mountain. They are w...

The hotel itself is lovely and the staff is very friendly. We went all out and got the 3-bedroom panorama suite - which was awesome... 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, full kitchen, TVs in each room, laundry closet, private hot tub, incredible view, etc. Plus, breakfast was included in our room rate, and there’s a great selection to choose from.

BUT… there are a few things you need to be aware of before booking here. Some of these are complaints based on my experience; others are just informational.

• Construction hours. Upon arrival, we discovered the resort was building a new building next door to ours, and while we were told that construction would only happen from 9am-5pm, it started closer to 7:30am on 3 of the 4 mornings we were there (no construction on Sundays). We repeatedly told the front desk about this and called each morning only to be told “oh, that shouldn’t be happening”, but with no resolution. Also, this building is right next to 1 of the 2 pools, making that pool almost unusable. Be sure to ask if your room will be beach-front or in one of the residence towers - and go with beach-front.
• Theft from hotel room. On our first day there, we had an iphone and an ipod removed from our suite during a 2-hour block while we were at the pool. We reported it the front desk the same day, and were eventually visited by security. They explained to us multiple times that theft does not happen at their hotel and that we must have misplaced these items. They even did a thorough search of our room (behind picture frames etc) thinking we might have hidden the devices. They claim no one entered our room during that time, however someone did fix our fridge while we were out – so go figure. They made us feel as if this was undoubtedly our fault and never offered an apology or even a “sorry this happened during your vacation”. 7 days after being reported, they asked for 10 more days to “investigate”.
• Our suite, while incredible, was across the main road and up a hill, meaning you either have some hefty steps to climb up, or you take a bridge across, then call for a golf cart to take you up. The upside is that the golf cart drivers are incredibly sweet.
• Housekeeping congregated, with their carts, right outside our suite around 8am each morning for at least an hour, even though none of the other rooms on our floor had guests. They were noisy, to the point that we could hear their conversations inside.
• Wifi is very temperamental, even in your room. I kept a decent connection most of the time, but my friends were only able to connect in 1 restaurant and by 1 pool. And there’s a different wifi account for you room, each pool, each restaurant, the lobby, etc., so you'll have to reconnect as you move around.
• While one of my friends enjoyed her massage, the other 2 of us were rather disappointed. Also, we were told they would be on a balcony overlooking the ocean, but instead the 3 of us were in 2 rooms, so 2 of us had to double up. This was not horrible, but something you should confirm in advance.
• They do sell time-shares, so if you're not interested, be firm and move on.
• Bring or buy bug spray as you'll be between a beach and a rain forest
• There is not an ATM on the property, however the hotel will give you cash and charge your room. They include a 10% service charge for doing this.
• If you want to go into town, it's ~$15 each way and takes about 15-20 min.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask if you will have a beach-front room vs if you will be in a residences tower - and def...

Dear guest,

On behalf of the team I represent in Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa and of course my own I would like to gently thank you for being your choice as your home away from home. We also would like to thank you for the time you took to give us your opinion. It will surely be of a great help due to our pursuit of improvement and be sure it will be useful for our future guests.
In Garza Blanca the safety of our guests is our primary concern as we commented before this has been an extraordinary case which we have given follow up and we have kept in constant communication with you via e-mail.
However the insurance company has standard procedures of verification that we have stick to. We understand your annoyance but it is the insurance company policies and procedures.

I would like to reiterate that we are working on your case and that our security department after contacted you, along with the Insurance company have been hardly working to solve this case.

I would remain in constant communication with you.

Best regards,

The property is beautiful! Doesn't feel like a big resort and the amount of detail and attention put into the grounds is crazy. We love the location nestled up against the mountains. Short distance north is PV and a very short distance south brings you Mismaloya / Zoo. Love Blanca Blue restaurant for any meal and the views from BocaDos STK mountainside are gorgeous. Food was great as was the accompanied service with a smile. Rooms are luxurious and the suites are large with very nice amenities. Beach is the best in PV with soft white sand and free sea kayaks / paddle boards. Paradise!

Room Tip: 1 Bedroom Suite offers 1,500+ square feet and a full kitchen / washer & dryer.

We came to PV for my early birthday celebration and we weren't dissappointed. The place is so beautiful, staffs are every attentive to our needs, the resort is very clean, food is great, price is reasonable, they have daily activities which are free of charge like kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boards, yoga by the river and hiking. We tried the hiking and river tour, once again thanks to our guide, Francisco, we had a good time. Awesome cliff jumping by the waterfalls! Wish we could a stayed a bit longer, we'll surely be back.

Beautiful location, friendly staff and quiet spa like ambiance yet you fell pressured to sit through a time share hard sell because it is all the employment geared towards. Pool is great beach is tranquil. Restaurants OK . We liked the whole experience, rooms are really spacious, Clean and courtyard is immaculate, no complaints what so ever with anything except we have listened to time share push so many times that we don't want to buy it. Thank you

Despite the 2 hurricanes hitting Mexico in mid September 2013, we couldn't have asked for a better week in Paradise. My husband has never been out of the country and was very impressed by the entire resort. I have been to many resorts, and by far this hits the top, they even set up the room with candles and rose petals to make our honey moon more special!

The service was EXCELLENT, Alvaro, Gonzalo, Ezequiel, Jaime and Rene, took great care of us out at the pool... let's just say our hands were never without a drink, and when we didn't know what to order, they knew what to bring us! The pool deck was also full of comfortable lounge chairs and for a more private experience you can take a trip up to the other towers where they have a second infinity pool. Due to the slow season, there was no open bar upstairs, but the restaurant BOCA, brought drinks out to us instead. Massage therapists even came to the pool one afternoon offering complementary 5 minute massages. We did go to the spa one day that it rained, though quite pricey, the services were excellent.

We did sign up for one activity, hiking through the Sierra Madre and along the nearby river. Fernando, or the Mexican Mogley as he so called himself, was an excellent tour guide explaining things about the area, animals and foliage along the way. At the end of the hike, you get to climb up a small cliff and jump in the river next to the waterfall!

I must also comment on the staff at Blanca Blue and BOCA, who were more than accommodating to our needs. I have a nut allergy, and they remembered after the first time we ate in the restaurants. The chef at BOCA also wrapped my filet in bacon, even though it was not on the menu, and I must say that it was the best steak I have ever eaten.

If you are going, do the all inclusive plan, it is well worth it and you will not be disappointed in the food and beverage options!

Room Tip: We booked a corner room in building 2, junior suite complete with an outdoor Jacuzzi in addition to...
