“A Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I shouldn't write this review, because this restaurant might become more discovered than it already is. Right now it is mainly known by locals (both Mexican nationals and others) and those who stay at the Hotel Lindo Mar. La Playita's dining area is slightly elevated above the ocean on a pocket beach with crashing waves on big rocks; I've seen whales nearby in season. Also Brown Pelicans and the Magnificent Frigate Bird. The food is reasonably priced with large margaritas and Mexican beer available. (The wine choices are essentially "red" or "white", so consider going elsewhere if you're celebrating a special occasion and want a full service wine list, although the ambiance is so wonderful that usually even wine snobs don't complain.) For regulars, you will notice that the menu doesn't change, but you can always have a traditional Mexican plate or the fresh fish of the day "a la plancha" or "Lindo Mar". I have been to La Playita alone, with family and friends and for business meals. It feels mostly non-touristy and always welcoming. The service is usually very good. I think on weekends they only do buffets for breakfast/brunch (which I personally don't care for anywhere), but anytime you can order off their a la carte menu, you will do just fine. A nostalgic piece of old time Mexico, with beautiful view, crashing surf and a reasonable bill.

“Best sunset restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

Great drinks! Good menu selections. The Chicken Forentina was amazing! Fillet of fish in garlic and butter, yummy! We stayed at Lindo Mar for two weeks and we ate at La Playita for dinner 11 times. Oh, and try the crab tacos, fish tacos, and Mexican snack. And the fajitas... Pasta night is Tuesdays!

“Wonderful food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

The breakfasts here were fabulous!! We ate here every morning for a week and enjoyed both the delicious food and the spectacular view! The Italian buffet night for dinner was excellent as well! The servers were very good too. I would recommend this restaurant as a MUST on your visit to PV!!

“Another Hidden Gem Near Puerto Vallarta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I was introduced to this restaurant a couple of years ago by a friend. I had passed the building for 10 years never really giving it a thought as it appeared to just be a time share hotel. From the street you see a normal looking apartment building without realizing what is through the doors. You enter from the street on the 7th floor and take the elevator down to the first floor. Upon emerging you are met with a spectacular view of flowers, ocean and tide pools. The restaurant overlooks them all. I have ordered off the menu and have also gone for the weekend buffets and have enjoyed it all. The food is very good, well-presented, flavourful and plentiful. The staff are helpful, friendly and courteous. It is now one of the places I always take my visitors to.

“No need to leave Conchas Chinas for lunch.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

My wife and I spent a week in PV and stayed in Conchas Chinas at the Quinta Maria Cortez (see separate review for that), and we ate at La Playita multiple times. The food is good and the portions are large. They make a very mean margarita!!! This is a good option if you don't want to go to the hassle of going into town or paying for a Taxi.

Really 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. Give them a try.
