This was one of the best meals we have ever had. My wife and I have over 20 years combined experience in the culinary field. We consider ourselves "foodies". We ordered a bottle of Mexican Sauvignon blanc, which was a first for us, but paired beautifully with the seafood in our meal.
For starters, we had the shrimp pot stickers and the crab/shrimp cakes. Both were very well done, but the potstickers really wowed us. The sauce was a lobster mango buerre blanc.
For entrees, my wife had the red snapper with veal sweet breads. The fish was beautifully cooked and the pairing with sweet breads was unique and delicious.
I had the filet with foie gras and carmelized onions. The beef was so tender, it melted in my mouth. There was a port sauce infused with truffle as well. The flavor combination was amazing. My final bite was a slightly charred piece of foie gras that I will dream about.
For dessert we had espresso and their coconut panna cotta. Being sort of a snob when it comes to both I will say their espresso is good and the panna cotta was the best I have ever had. I pride myself on my panna cotta, but this blows mine away. Very unique with the caramel, berries, and panna cotta.
The staff was amazing helpful and friendly. We were treated like royalty and we had a really nice conversation with the host about local attractions and Puerto Vallarta. We were there until close, but there was never a rush for us to leave. The staff was close by when needed, but didn't "hover".
The bathrooms were very nice and clean.
All this is amplified by the ambience. There was a very talented saxophone player playing love song we recognized. The view is absolutely gorgeous. You can see down into "old town" and all the way across the bay. There were fireworks being shot off and lanterns floating into the sky.
The combination of all these things made for one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Well done!
