“Friendly staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. However, we saw absolutely nothing. I see all of the positive reviews so it makes mme wonder if our experience is not very common OR they stack the deck with their own reviews.

“Don't go with anyone else”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

Oscar is a marine biologist and he and his girlfriend Bellen run a great operation. Call them direct as you'll get a better price than if you book with the street touts. Their address is wrong in Lonely Planet so don't go to the place in Old Mazatlan. Their number is on the brochure. There were only 5 on our trip in a little boat. What Oscar doesn't know about whales isn't worth knowing and many of the watchers out the morning we were their didn't experience half of what we saw as he was fast and knew what he was doing. Don't be disappointed, please use Oscar as he is actively studying the whales and uses the trips to finance his research.

“Amazing Humpback Whales in the Wild”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

We went out on our adventure with experienced Marine Bioiologists on a large, comfortable boat with capacity for approx 17. We saw many humpback whales and their calves. What amazing giants of the sea! It was breathtaking! We also had many dolphins riding our bow waves. Gracias Oscar, Belin and Saul - esta muy bien!!!! Can't wait to return!

“The experience of a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

Everything was explained in detail in advance, but I never imagined we would see as many humpback whales up close as we did in just 4 hours. It was thrillling!
Oscar, the dedicated marine biologist who took us out that morning was just as excited as his five passengers (maybe more!) and his respect and admiration for these giants was plainly evident making the experience all the more unforgettable.
Onca Explorations provided life jackets, drinks and sandwiches; wear a light jacket until the sun warms you, a hat and good SPF. And don't forget your camera! If you've forgotten anything else they probably have it.
