We ate at Pancho's on the beach in the Golden Zone. The restaurant is typical Mexican but a notch above with beautiful tile and pottery displays. Naturally, the beach setting is perfect. The bathrooms are pristine. They were very accommodating in seating the five of us and dinner started with an appetizer of some sort of fried fish and chile goodie. Plus, they brought us a shot of some guava flavored alcohol before dinner and then Kahlua and cream after dinner – all complimentary. Two of our group had fish fillet, one had spectacular shrimp fahitas, and one had stunning molcajete (best of the trip). One had the enormous pork shank special topped with a wonderful sauce making it a real winner. The molcajete came bubbling hot in the 3-legged stone bowl and continued to bubble throughout dinner. However, the food was not over the top scorched and was easily edible. Three cheese hunks were draped over the side along with slices of spices chicken, tomato, and grilled cactus. Next year, we're coming back for Spanish coffees seen in some of the other pictures. The food here is really fabulous.
