I stayed at the Casa De Leyendas for almost one week.

The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The breakfast buffet was always perfect!!

Glen and Sharon are excellent hosts, very caring and truly helpful people, and the service was outstanding in every way!

What a great base for exploring old Mazatlan. The owners, Glenn & Sharon, have done an impeccable job converting one of the city's historic homes (across from the art museum) into a completely inviting bed and breakfast (six unique rooms) that is decorated beautifully with folk art and tasteful murals. Ceiling fans, air conditioning, fountains and cool tile floors made even the summer temperatures palatable. We arrived, jumped in the small, cozy pool in the corner of the courtyard and were offered a glass of wine. The hospitality never diminished. This was more like a stay in some very generous friends' home than a paid stop. The staff is superlative, the breakfasts are bountiful. You have free internet and phone access to the states. Even the packs of coffee in the room are of the highest quality. An ATM that worked every time is a minute's walk away as is the sidewalk along the beach, the malecon, one of the longest in Mexico. The centro historico is undergoing ambitious restoration and you need never go to the high-rise, franchised world of the "golden zone," a five dollar cab or pulmonia (open air
motorized cart) ride away.

I can't say enough good things about Casa de Leyendas. The Casa itself is a very large and absolutely gorgeous old Mexican home, lovingly restored by gracious hosts Sharon and Glenn Sorrie. Casa de Leyendas combines all the comforts of home with all the flavor of old Mexico and is perfectly located in Mazatlan's historic Centro, just around the corner from the Pacific. I felt so welcomed by Sharon, Glenn, Mary and the other wonderful staff as well as by the two handsome resident Shelties, Frankie and Markie. Breakfast was delicious -- with huevos, pastries, toast, fresh fruit salad, juices, coffee and more -- and friendly too as fellow travelers meandered in and out during this wonderful start to the day. My room was so pretty and well-appointed, and I loved all the outdoor and indoor spaces where I could get comfortable with a book, or enjoy a conversation with whomever might stop by. I am so looking forward to visiting the Casa and its delightful and caring people again soon.

First off, let me say that I am not crazy about B & Bs as places to stay on longer holidays but Casa De Leyendas has changed all that. Sharon and Glenn are incredible hosts who are intuitive about your needs. They were charming, extremely helpful with information about Mazatlan and genuinely nice people. The Casa itself is gorgeous thanks to Sharon’s impeccable decorating taste. Our room was beautifully appointed and the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever had in Mexico or most other parts of the vacationing world. Each morning a substantial breakfast was arranged for guests by two very friendly Mexican ladies and the hosts. Fresh fruit, eggs, great bread and pastries, cereal, varying meats, juices and lots of coffee helped kick start the day. Mondays and Fridays, yoga sessions were held in one part of the house and I enjoyed the gentle stretching. Guests would share their plans for the day and swap stories about daily adventures which made for lively breakfast discussions. Sharon and Glen would suggest and then help finalize day trips so everything ran smoothly. In the evening, we'd meet back up for refreshments and again share our experiences and laughter. The Casa is located in old town or Centro Mazatlan so there is lots to see and do without needing a car. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the food, sights and shopping. For those who want to laze around, read, watch T.V. (British Golf Open!), sleep, or cool off in the pool, that is perfectly fine too. The B & B is large enough so that there is many places to hide away, relax, and read. I indulged in a local spa experience four times which is decadent but well worth it!
Our vacation was memorable and this was largely due to the personalized attention we received from our five star hosts. They were attentive without being intrusive and genuinely concerned about guests having a good time. Absolutely outstanding! I miss being there already.
