“Beautiful Place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

Casa De Leyendas is a wonderful place to stay right in the heart of historic Mazatlan. The area is charming and the restored colonial mansion is lovely. This is best place to stay in Mazatlan if you want to be away from the touristy large hotels and all that goes with them.

It all started on a rainy night...the hubby and I drove almost 5 hours on the road from San Carlos/Guayamas, Mexico. 2 dogs, no reservations...waiting on inquiries we made earlier during the day on the road. Just as things were starting to look desperate.. realizing we were either going to sleep on the sand or park our butts indefinitely in the car seats... we received an email from Sharon from Casa De Leyendas to come over to check out the hotel, they had availability!

Our hopes renewed, a beam of luminous light at the end of a pitch black telephone can.

Regarding dog policy, you must first check with Sharon and Glenn since it is on a case by case basis. Both our dogs, (1 small american eskimo, 1 medium mixed buffed looking doggie..but very sweet) are quiet, house trained and have been through dog obedience training. So for us, a number of factors could have played in our favor, it is (was) low season (May - Aug), our american eskimo played a serious seduction number on Sharon...or we just looked plain pitiful...

In any case, the universe was on our side. We initially planned to stay 3 nights, we stayed 6! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed ourselves.

Great location: inside the centro historico...less than a block from the malecon, a couple blocks from the plaza machado. You're right smack in the action and in the most beautiful historic settings.

**For dog walkies, we hit the beach in the early mornings, before you can cook an egg on the side walk or late afternoons after 6. Also, there's a little grass area next to the bus station. Head on Dr Hector Gonzalez Guevara away from the B&B. Left on Circunvalacion. 3 min walk.

Beautiful rooms: loved the decor and the best beds in mazatlan (comfortable, clean and firm...good pillows). Enough space and light. We stayed in both the Jardin and later the Carnival room (when there were problems with the air conditioning that was immediately attended to and fixed). Each of the rooms had a desk, a fridge and ample space for all our bags (for us 10, since we're on a long trip). Divine breakfasts, fresh baked lemon muffins. Coffee (can be a little stronger, but that's just me). Every morning we were greeted with a buenos dias and smile by either Glenn, Sharon or the ladies who worked there.

Good value: Discounts for 3 or more days. The longer you stay, the better the value. Also, scrumptious breakfast included, always a plus. We're on a tight budget so our wallet thanked us for staying there.

Favorite moments: Watching the sunset on the roof of the B&B. Weekend live music nights at Macaws (restaurant part of the B&B). Wednesday night, Yappy Hour (a happy hour with dogs organized by Sharon to raise money for the local dog shelter) and watching the sensuous salsa dancers at a July 14th block party in front of the B&B.

Finalement: The worst thing you can imagine on vacation...I left my passport (and an iphone cord) at the B&B several weeks after we left. No problema! Sharon had it expressed mailed to us. I received it today. I'm thanking my lucky stars for Sharon & Glenn and all the folks there at CDL!

All in all, best bed and breakfast in Mazatlan! You'll be lucky to stay there.

We love old Mazatlan, and love this B&B! The rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable. It's a wonderful quiet spot to get a good night's rest in a beautifully restored Mexican villa, and enjoy the ambiance and fine dining of the mach ado. Glen and Sharon are welcoming hosts who always make us feel at home. Again, it's our favorite place to stay in Mazatlan! We look forward to our next visit.

My boyfriend and I spent our 14th anniversary at Casa de Leyendas, and we couldn't have been happier with the experience!
Sharon and Glenn were awesome - they made us feel right at home and were great at helping us plan our daily activities. The entire building was beautifully decorated, and the rooms were absolutely lovely and comfortable.
We enjoyed the breakfasts very much, and we always had a lot of fun having drinks down at the bar with the locals.
The location couldn't have been better! Located in historic downtown, we were steps from the beach, great restaurants, shops, galleries, and Plaza Machado - a lively square just a few blocks away.
We highly recommend this B&B to all friends and family traveling to Mazatlán, and can not wait for an opportunity to stay there again some day.

Room Tip: We recommend the Peralta Room!

During our recent week-long trip to Mazatlan, staying at Casa de Layendas was one of the highlights. We loved returning to the casa in the afternoon to relax by the pool or read on a patio. We loved grabbing a snack in the bar and lounging in our rooms. We loved retreating to the air conditioning when we were overheating, and we loved eating breakfast in the courtyard every morning. Glenn and Sharon treated us like family, and we enjoyed getting to know other guests. We really appreciated being within walking distance of the Plaza, the Market, the Malecon (14-mile sidewalk boulevard along the ocean), and so many fabulous restaurants. Will definitely return here again!

Only con was that there's some noise from the bar next door in the Jardine Room, but the sound of the air conditioner tended to block out most of the noise.

Room Tip: Jardine room has most privacy.

We were recently driving from San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta with our 2 small dogs.We had heard about casa de leyendas from friends so we decided to stop. They also have 2 lovely shelties that reside at the hotel. The hotel is a beautiful old colonial design that has been renovated and is very tasteful ,about a block from the beach in centro across from the museum. We had a lovely time there, everybody was really nice and helpful.I couldn't recommend it enough.
